Hi guys and gals...was wondering how many of you are from Casper on here? I might be starting a new job with a company out there. They are hiring for Denver or Casper. Casper looks to me as a great place. Any info would be great. Just would like to know what to expect living there. Thanks John

Born and raised there, but haven't lived there since 2004...

Nice place, quite honestly not very much there in the way of ORV recreation though. You can snowmobile on Casper Mountain ... but, Casper Mountain is basically just a suburb of Casper, a lot of private land up there .... and it doesn't get much snow at all. There is a motocross track there, but as far as public land for general dirt biking goes there is basically nothing.

As far as the city goes, its a pretty decent place. Getting kinda big though ;)

Also .... get used to the wind. The wind there is absolutely horrible. It'llbe 20 degrees out and due to the wind the wind chill factor will be like -50 =)

There are about 70,000 people living there right now.

There is quite a bit of good fishing, in fact excellent fishing, all along the north platte river .... several large lakes within about an hours drive, so if boating is your thing its a decent place for that ... just watch out if you're out on Pathfinder, be towards the north shore if its getting closer to noon, that's when the wind almost always picks up on that lake ;)

I think most people in Casper pretty much head to the Horns or the Snowies to ride, mostly the Snowies .... Its about 3 hours to saratoga. Don't have a clue why you'd ride the snowies out of the east side (Laramie) if you were coming from casper ... Wyoming range is ~4 hours from there if I remember right, so is the CDST.

Decent place to live ..... I'd wanna move back if there was anywhere within 150 miles to really ride dirt in the summer ;)

There is a big following of sleadheads here in Casper. Casper Mnt. is a great place to go up and ride with the family. Most of us do travel down to the Range or the Madres.
Yes the wind sucks here but you almost get use to it. Great dealership here that sell Polaris and Ski-Doo's
You would have no problem finding someone to ride with.

Yep

Well if I move there I am gonna need some riding buddies! Plus no arctic cat dealer? I really dont wanna switch! lol

Casper or Denver

If you like to spend half of your day in traffic then denver is the place for you.
Denver is just crazy with traffic any more.
Casper and most of wyoming is growing due to oil and gas boom. Casper has lots of nice businesses and quit a variety of things to do thru out the year.
We have the most wind in fall and winter. You just get used to it.
Cost of living will be less in casper over denver. Hope this helps you out.

There is a Cat dealer in Glenrock if I remember right, but I don't think they carry snowmobile stuff .... The nearest Cat dealer that I know of is in Rawlins. They seem like they usually have decent prices on new and used sleds and I've bought parts from them from time to time, they seem OK to deal with at least. I think it's Rawlins Auto (Its also a Carquest store) ... Rawlins is about an hour and 45 minutes from Casper and is on the way to the snowies or madres pretty much :)

Digger how could you turn your back on Minnesota like that! LOL I would get the hell outta here too if I could. Damn family.

just fo kicks

i work there and steve and i are not dealers but can get you any cat part needed also we have lots of used parts in stock. Grant

Cat dealer

There are lots of cat riders in casper if you need anything you can get a hold of Steve at just for kicks or Vern in rawlins. Both great guys to deal with. If neither one of those guys have what you need I or the friends i ride with carry at least one of every part to fix or repair an arctic cat.
