Im looking into different colleges and i came upon casper college in casper wyoming. It's a 2 year school. I would just like to know if any of you have ever attended this college or knows anyone who does? How did you like it?

Thanks,

I would definatley recommend it, especially if you aren't a star straight-A student coming right out of highschool.

I was at CC from 01 to 04 to get my Associate Degree in Engineering ... I transfered to Texas Tech from CC and graduated from Tech, so I guess you could say I've seen it from both ends of the spectrum.

Honestly if I would have tried starting out at a school like Texas Tech or any other big university getting an engineering degree, I would have bombed out miserably ... At CC, you can actually get TAUGHT things ... things you didn't learn in highschool.

The way I look at was, I went to CC and put the work needed to get my AS degree there ... transfered to a huge university, and wound up doing fine, passed my EIT exam, and have been working as an engineer in the oil and gas industry ever since.

It's a great place to start out, and it's dirt cheap when compared to damn near any other school. Something to consider though ..

There are some things that CC just can't teach you, like how to "play the game" you have to play at the big universities. My first semester at TTU was rough as hell, but I caught on .... I learned the college "work ethic" from CC so to speak ... learned how to "play the game" at TTU I guess...

Overall I would say I definatley got what I needed to get out of CC. There are some things I would have liked to have seen them do a little differently, but it's really served me well regardless ...

What are you looking at studying there? They offer some 4 year degrees as part of the UW outreach program(s), they have a museum of natural history with dinosaurs and all that there ... it's a pretty good junior college.

casper college has some hot girls its nice....i miss the russians they had last year on the v-ball team.

I saw some good looking girls on their volleyball team. How is the campus? dorms? . Im from Iowa and its pretty windy here so im pretty sure that wont make any difference.. How is the riding? How far is it from there?

No, Casper is quite frankly like the third windiest city in the country. Literally. You don't get it until you've lived there.

I've lived in two of the windiest places in the US ... Casper, Wy and Lubbock TX .... and even west Texas ain't as windy as Casper is.

As far as night life in Casper, it's what you make of it ... If you're a raging drunkaholic depressive maniac it isn't gonna matter where you are you will hate it, but if you take initiative to meet a lot of girls you'll probably dig it.

I still meet new chicks every time I go out to the bars there. However, I would recommend you avoid the bar known as "Sidelines" .... it's the local gay bar.

As far as riding, you can ride on Casper Mountain which is quite literally a 15 minute drive from CC. It's literally right down the road from the mountain. Casper Mountain is essentially a suburb of Casper these days, it's mainly trail riding except for a few spots back on Muddy mountain really, then maybe over by the archery range... I dunno if you look you can find some places back off the beaten path i guess.. There used to be a lot more area to ride up there but then for some stupid reason the cross country skiiers decided that they needed to take over 1/3 of the mountain just for themselves basically. Most people from Casper go down to the snowies or up to the big horns, both of which are ~3 hours away give or take a little. It is pretty cool if casper mountain gets snow though, because then you only have a ~20 minute drive to unload so you can get your sled runnin for the bigger mountains on the weekends :) .... I will say that Casper Mountain is pretty fun to go riding at night on :D

I don't have any riding pics from up there online right now but here's what the mountain looks like from town when it's on fire at least.

hey dog you still in casper? thats a lot of pics of the fire!!!! nice shots too.

Nah I am living in Vernal Utah right now ... haven't lived in Casper since the summer of 04 ...

Yeah man that was a crazy *** day when the mountain started fire ... I was back in town in between summer school and fall semester and that happened.

It was seriously like freakin' paparazzing those pictures, the cops and the sherrifs and WHP and everyone was out trying to "herd" people away from the fire and getting pics and stuff.

Did you ever see that calender they made out of the fire with all the professional pictures of it? Pretty freaky ..
