Cash for clunkers goes flop

I have a bunch of friends as Heuberger Subaru, they have not and will not participate for fear of getting screwed or having pissed off customers.

Why is the federal government rewarding the fuktards that couldn't afford a car and has a piece of shot for a car with $4500? I wouldn't doubt if these people are buying something they can't afford anyway. Do you realize how much money it is costing to destroy the engine and drain all the fluids out of the motor? It would have been cheaper to just give the money to the poor homies. My truck is only worth $15000 after 5 years and I bought it for $40000. IS there some program to increase my value?

What I wasn't to know is why do the cars have to be destroyed??? Why can't they be sold to salvage yards and parted out, the government could make back SO much of the money they invest that it wouldn't be near as costly... But I guess that would make too much sense:mad::mad:

Because the Obama administration has a hard up on spending so much money on making the world eco green. But sometimes it doesn't make sense financially and they still force it.

One example...
I know of a place in Colorado that is trying to get stimulus money for a new water treatment plant . They need it bad. But the gov is requiring them to use solar power as part of the project. They are in a canyon that only gets 28% of the sunlight that an exposed area would get. So this eco project would never pay for itself and never really serve a purpose. But they force it on them anyway.

This whole program isn't about greener cars on the road.
This whole program isn't about helping people getting new cars.

This whole program is a pay off to the unions.
By getting people to buy new cars it means they get to keep their jobs.
bo just couldn't figure out a way to do it without making america angry, so he covered it up with a free cash program.
Simple.

only 2% of cash for clunkers has been processed and of those 4 out of 5 have been rejected.

Dealers are going to stop offering it if this continues. Most dealers have written the deal so that if the fed rejects it, the buyer is on the hook for the cash.
Dems are trying to rewrite the deal so dealers would carry the risk. If they do that, no dealer will touch it.

At my dealership we have had 11 cash for clunker deals and have had to stop the program because we've yet to be paid for any of them with no explanation of why they were rejected - this is after having to spend at a minimum 2+ hours inputing the info on their crappy site.

It has surprised me what customers have come in on this program - 10 out of the 11 have been affluent customers and only a few of them financed, most have paid cash.

This is another thing that has surprised me, we have only had 2 trades out of the 11 that I would call clunkers. The rest were pretty decent cars/trucks that have a lot of life left in them.

The government got involved, what do you expect? Chalk up another Obama Failure.

I have never been for government health care but after seeing the mess they have created with this (comparatively small at "only" 3 billion) program I have no doubt that if it comes to pass we are all screwed.

I heard on the news that the next looming crisis will be when all these people that bought new cars (because they found out their "clunker" was worth $4500) find out that they can't make the payments and then the cars will be repossesed. If you were driving a $1000 car to start with then you probably will not be able to make the payments on a new one for very long-------- nice one Barry !

AAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHHHHHH sh¡t like this just pisses me off.

Perfectly usable vehicles being destroyed by a "government program".

Like the USA isn't viewed by the rest of the world at as being wasteful enough already.

I read somewhere the clunkers were being shipped off shore to Japan or somewhere? Ollie any truth to this?

Nope. Sodium Silicate where the oil would usually go.

Engines don't run well with sand as a lubricant.

Why are they trying to ruin the motor, doesn't the car have to run in order to be traded in for the program?

they want the gas guzzlers off the road..the vehicle can be completely salvaged...except for the engine..it must be destroyed so it is non usable even as parts..hence the sodium sillicate..it destroys the internals beyond repair....

Oh, it's being done to "help the environment".

By sending thousands of totally unusable engines to the scrapyards.

Yep, makes perfect fcuking sense.

Union payoff..

Ollie, that is pure crap. The program is flawed but not because of anything to do with unions pal.

BTW I belong to one of the biggest unions around the IAFF, and if we did not have the union on our side the 100+ cancer types that Firemen get still would not qualify for us to get life insurance to pay to our familes when we die 10-15 years earlier than the rest of you clowns. Nuff said.

It has plenty to do with the UAW, sorry to say.

What a fawkin' crock of ****.

BINGO That is the real purpose of these green lovin idiots.

OK.
The engines are being destroyed to ensure that the "clunkers" don't get resold on the used car market.

The vehicles may end up in Japan, but only because Japan buys scrap metal from the US and the clunkers are being shredded and turned into scrap metal.

The UAW is a HUGE part of the clulnkers program. The UAW went to bat for the dems with everything they had in the last election. Now they are hurting because the dems couldn't save em. GM has been split up all over the place. Factories have been shut down and the UAW members are demanding answers. The UAW bosses needed to show that the support they gave to bo and the dems was paying off.

Add to that the fact thousands of dealerships were closing and couldn't sell the cars they had. GM and Dodge wouldn't take the cars back which left a HUGE glut of cars and trucks on the market. This translated to no car orders, which ment the UAW wasn't getting paid to build new cars. Enter cash for clunkers. The feds get to show they are helping the poor dealers and the UAW gets to go back to work and build more cars people don't want.

I am not familiar with the IAFF or their dealings with the politicians (if any), I am however VERY familiar with the UAW and their corruption.

Sounds about right, to me.
