I feel like the 660engine would last longer than the typical 800 engine

Cool story bro. Keep moving along.
Unless you ride one, you won't "see it'. I've had 800's for years, and a few big bore and boosted sleds (my current ride is an EVO equipped M1100T). Does the 660 have the torque of an 800? No. Will it keep up to an 800? No problem, unless your riding is at 10,000' doing straight up chute climbs. The fact that it will go toe to toe with Cat's 800 HO (which has a "bit" more snap then the Polaris 800) is impressive in itself. Anyone who thinks the current Liberty 800 in stock form will hang a beating on a Cat 800 HO has been drinking too much poo-lade, or the rider on the Cat can't ride. That said, it isn't a sled for everyone - most riders depend on the torque of a sled to get them out of a bind rather then depending on talent - my wife has embarrassed more then a few guys on the hill (funny what 20 yrs experience will do for ya). She chose the 600 platform simply because of the 800's poor track record of reliability, and the lighter "feel" (She tore her rotator cuff before the 2013 season, so wanted a lighter sled).I don't doubt that the Carls 660 runs very well...but I could never understand why somebody would buy a 600 and put the extra money into it, only to have it "run toe to toe" with an 800...Most people would agree there slightly lighter and have a different feel because of the smaller displacement, but I just don't see it.

In short, it revs like a blender - kind of like a 125 two-stoke MX bike vs. a 250, feels very light, and is playful. If you like to challenge yourself and are a decent rider, you can hang a beating on the other stock 800 pilots in your group, and have more "fun" doing it on a lighter, more nimble sled... just go ride one and you'll figure it out.
Please be sure to post the results of your new motor. I am very seriously considering going to a 660 next year from my XM 800. (I have absolutely no complaints about my XM, just thinking I might want to try the 660. I have heard they are a blast to ride.) I have heard nothing but good about them and the more good I hear the more likely I am to make the switch next year.
