So I now that I have killed my motor not sure why yet:confused: I decided to haul it Down to Dustin at Outlaw and let them do it 8 hr drive for me. So my next ? do I go for it and do the Carillo rods and the J&E pistons???? And then that means I can dump the head shim to??? any Advice would be great it will add about 750 to the cost of the job but when I have this much already spent whats another 750
or is it a waist.

Well , since its going to be apart , i would go for it , and for only $ 750.00 , up here the JE almost cost $600.00 alone and if i remember rigth the carillo rods were $1200 for a set of four. I see , your saying $750.00 more then the cost of stock , whats the cost of stock rods and piston down your way.
By the way i have a complete set of stock rods / piston and valves for sale , never used.

I had the same situation awhile back. Chose the upgrade and have no regrets. Peace of mind and insurance. Was a 10 hour drive for me each way but well worth it. You're in good hands wiyh Outlaw

I say do it! You'll second guess yourself if you don't down the road.

I just wish Dustin would get my sled finished so I can enjoy some of this nice snow! How long did he tell you till it's finished?

I agree. Go with some 10:1 J&E pistons, drop the head shim and throw in some carillo rods. They are spendy but it will be worth it in the long run especially if you want to run big boost. Those stock rods are pretty thin compared to the carillo's.

I guess what I ment to say was it will add 750 more than the stock stuff

You got everything done to that beast. For $750 you should go all out with the motor and be done with it.

my BF did the pistons and rods on his apex and has never looked back
when he had his apex built by Dustin @ outlaw :)

Hey Punisher, all good things take time and if you want it done right, you can't rush it. And with Dustin, you've got the best.

Do the motor work, then there's no guessing or apprehension when you pin it! You won't find a cleaner, more professional job than is done by Dustin at Outlaw. I'll be seeing him again in the future and if I'm lucky, I'll get to buy his Nitro he's building this year, when he builds himself a new "?"!!!!!

In short, have Dustin do the motor work and you'll have piece of mind.:)

No question, just as everyone else said, go Rods and JE 10:1 pistons, the sled will increase in value more than the extra $750 extra it will cost you.
