where is the gas "gooshing" from?
It sounds like broken reeds.
Check the float valve and seat.
#17 In this diagram, provided this is the type of carb we are talking about
Carb Diagram
I would still agree with Unfair Advantage's post about the needle and seat. it is pretty much the only way fuel can come from the float bowl out of the carb with the throttle closed if the carbeurator is properly assembled. check the little metal plate that the floats move as they rise, the center of the "M" where the metal tab connects to the needle may be bent or the needle may have somehow fallen out or come disconnected from the tab. with the jet needle on the slide fully down into the needle jet tube it would be tough for fuel to leak excessively from that point unless your fuel tank is somehow pressured.Well it drips from the bottom....I think it is coming out of the air side of the carb, then flowing to the bottom then dripping.
Just in case... Is this carb on the cylinder where the fuel pump pulse hose hooks to the crankcase ? A fuel pump diaphram might be bad and it is sucking fuel into the crankcase and spitting it out the carb when cranked over ?
Just a thought
