carburator help on a 84 phazer

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to set the choke on a 84 phazer. Here's the problem. I go to take off and have a bog so I choke it a little and it takes off like a bat of hell and seems to run pretty good after it gets moving. Some bog from time to time while deaccelerating then reaccelerating but not bad once it gets moving. Is this choke or something else? I've totally taken apart and cleaned the carbs and reset the air idol screw at 1 1/2 turns. PLEASE HELP getting aggervated!

Sounds like this sled has spent a long time sitting with fuel in the carbs. Most like your pilot jets and idle passages have blockages. Remove pilot jets and idle mixture screws. Clean with carb cleaner and compressed air...

If a little shot of the enrichener get's it going, you still have a blockage in the pilot circuit. Phazer carb's were a bit of a p.i.t.a. back in the day if the sled sat too long.

I did that. thanks. any other ideas?

Do it again....and then maybe again. If still doesn`t help, strip ALL of the plastic and rubber parts off the carb and soak it in a bucket of carb clean overnight. If still not working, replace the carb.

Those carbs have REALLY small pilot circuits that were notorious for clogging up, so any neglect from improper storage will usually render them useless.

Try to find a set of Mikuni TMX 36mm flat slides if you have to replace the carbs. That (and a PSI or Aaen pipe) was a good mod back in the day.
