Just got a Carbon Fiber open face HJC Helmet. It sure is light. Do you think it was worth the price?

Weight in grams or ounces... I don't care which..

I'm looking for a lightweight helmet for Tink (wife)..

Worth the price? If it makes it so you continue to ride after an injury then what isn't worth it?

I wonder how comparable the Klim F4 is to that ... I think it's partially made out of carbon fiber?

My girl bought me the the HJC carbon fiber last christmas, and i love it. Comfortable, light, and looks awesome. I thought about getting their full face version for the street bike as well.

I had the HJC full carbon lid for 2 seasons, awesome helmet forsure.

You sure notice the weight on your head, was quading with my old lid and totally noticed the difference. I now have thenew Fox V3, same weight as the HJC. Great lids.

I bought 1 and a non carbon fiber one just like it for 450.00 brand new last year. The carbon fiber one has the pin-stripes on it though. I love those helmets, feel alot of weight differance between the two. Only time I notice it's even on my head is when the wind catches it just right and the visor yanks my head back. Maybe if I didn't live in Wyoming this wouldn't happen!

Wyoming is windy because Nebraska blows and Colorado sucks!!! J/K

Thats odd, the large carbon fiber should have weighed about 3.1 lbs. We have a nice digital scale at work we use to weigh alot of helmets. Yes the Klim helmet is about the same except it is made of a carbon fiber/kevlar and some other mystery fibers similar to Shoei and Arai.

The weight I quoted is straight from the HJC website. I would like to know the actual weight, just to know.

Is it the carbon fiber or the fiberglass? The carbon fiber is one of the lightest on the market. They were claiming 2.9 when it first came out. Of course thats like a size small. The fiberglass are slightly higher in weight. Maybe they changed something since they first came out 2 yrs ago? I will weigh one tomorrow.

I pay good money for helmets. It's worth it every way I look at it. You get the best ratings, best comfort most of the time, lightest, and most durable paint finish with removable pads and so on etc.

I have the HJC AC-X3 MX helmet. Here it is with it's paint.

Look closely at the paint and you can see the carbon through it. Especially in the blue part of the flag. It was painted by images in motion in Savage MN by Robert Utne.

I dont know about the carbon fiber but i have rolled my sled over my head twice and scraped my spindle once and I LOVE my HJC helmet, worth every dime.

The damn things are lite. All I look for is the snell approval. That ensures the helmet is pressure tested and gives me a good warm fuzzy.

Good helmets man, and I think that carbon fiber is sick.

Update:

I rode with the HJC AC-X3 Carbon today. Hands down the best helmet I have ever worn!:) :)

Nice Lid !

Yup, don't mind spending some money on a nice helmet! My Bell Moto 8 is in the mail, I've heard good things out of the carbon fiber HJC, they just didn't fit me right, depends on the head, XXL for me!

Mine is XL and fits like a glove now. I'm still partial to Shoei though as they fit better. Just didn't care for the new design they had so I went with the HJC instead and couldn't be more happier at this point.

i've got the THOR carbon fiber, and love it. super light, good fit for me. not sure of the exact weight. i have a large. anyone know?
