My dad and I took our timber sleds out this weekend, but unfortunately his ktm exc 450 started running like crap when carb iced up pretty bad. Wondering if I should build a cover around it or buy a carb heater or something else. Any help would be great. Thanks
If you are running the stock airbox be absolutely sure the filter and prefilter are seated properly. From what I have read the heaters are not worth the effort.
I abandoned my airbox for a snorkel right off the carb and had some freezing issues, heres Carbondaddys patent pending trail side fix.
Ken gets credit for bringing the color matching ducttape and Riggsy supplied the plastic bag, I just watched them perform their magic cause it worked awesome for the rest of the day. The makeshift shrouding kept enough heat on the carb to stop it from freezing.
Now it's on the lift getting a more elegant and permanent solution.
