Carb heater

I was thinking that all of yamahas snowmobile 2 st carbs had hotnwater going to them it was a verry small aluminum block that could be cut off and maby grafted on a flat slide some how?

carb heater

Here's what I have been running. First I put a 3/4 x 1/4 tee in the hot and cold lines. I take a piece of 1.25 or 1 inch solid aluminum, drill a 3/16 hole all the way through it, turn a barb on the ends, machine a flat surface on one side, zip ty it to the side of the floatbowl using the vent line brackets, or attach to the flat area that says keihen. I figure the 3/16 hole slows the flow down enough as to not bypass the radiators, on one we just used the bypass circuit off the t stat instead of the t's, my radiators still get hot thats what matters. I use plastic heater hose t's from napa, they may break eventually but I carry a couple of 3/4 inch couplers just in case. All u need is a little heat, just something to keep the frost at bay, I cover it up with plastic shielding so the chainspray isn't right on the carb. I shoot it with a gun type thermometer and it is usually at about 100 degrees. If you put your finger on it by the time u count to 10 u are feeling hot. If u put a valve in the line u could turn it off, I figure to turn mine off I will just cut the zip tys and let it hang off the carb. I have a mill and lathe machine, which makes it easy, but a shop should be able to make one in less than an hour, they are easy to make. I have had major carb freezing issues in the past and this seems to cure it. Thanks to J&L for his advice! I have done 2 and am working on 2 more. Merry christmas and cheers from MT!
