can't more than 7400 rmp

09 800 dragon, last ride sled suddenly started missing and fouling right plug, took it to dealer, come to find out my Vforce3 reed on that side flaked apart. they installed a new one. took it out sat. now it takes off great but i can only tach 7400 rpm
it was taching around 8000. any thoughts

I would put the stock reeds back in the thing and see what happens. Did you change the plugs again also?

Many people agree that the vforce reeds are a waste of money on the 800 cfi motor because they have durability issues and yield virtually no performance gain. That's why I'd put the stock ones back in.

Check your bellows in your VES valves. If there is a hole, it could cause exactly what you are describing. Seems simple, but this fixed my RPM issue and it's easy to check them.

Change your fuel filter if you have more than 500 miles on it, do what corpeleven and 2sareawesome says...make sure the new plugs are gapped...

If you switched to NGK.. make sure they are BPR9ES and not BR9ES.

Pull your clutches and belt, disassemble them, clean, install new springs, check your belt side clearance, set offset, wash/scrub the belt. I've seen the clutches cause problems on 3 D8's this year.

IMO... making sure the primary and secondary are balanced and in perfect running order, that all adjustments are made and you wash/scrub the belt and clean the clutches is crucial to having the sled work well and consistently.

Are you running ethanol fuel? Are your ethanol wires plugged in?
