Can't get my tires off my enclosed deckover trailer.

Well call me stupid...but man am I having a hard time getting my tire off my trailer. I bought it a month ago it's a 2009 mirage enclosed. And I can't get the tires off. It's like there isn't enough room between the hub and the frame and the tire won't slide out. Is there anything I can do?

Did you put the jack under the axle or the frame? Putting the jack under the frame will let the axle drop down giving you more room?

I have it jacked under the frame. It has the torsion axles, would that change anything?

Try jacking up both sides by the frame so the opposite side wheel has no load. This should allow the wheels to hang as far away from the frame as possible.

I have an 07 mirage triple axle. I found you have to get the tire around 6" off the ground then you can wiggle it back and fourth and it will come out. Hope this helps.

They actually make a hammer for what you are going through. Tire repair shops have them. With the trailer on jack stands hit the tire from behind with a sledge hammer. Rotate the tire a little after each hit. Don't hit the rim. Make sure to put anti-seize compound on the back side of the rim and lug-nuts when you put them back on. If all else fails, take it to a tire shop and tell them to rotate your tires.

Doesn't sound very friendly if you get a flat on the road :face-icon-small-dis

I don't think his wheel is seized on to the hub, I think that there physicaly isn't room for the tire to clear the frame to get it off the trailer. Think of an old 70's Buick/Cadillac/Lincoln with rear fender skirts where you had to remove the skirt to get the tire off.

I must have misunderstood then. Sounds like a poor trailer design. I had a Cadillac like that once. :face-icon-small-ton
Every year I remove all my tires off my trailer and truck including the spare and put them back on. I also carry two spares for the trailer. Cheap insurance.

I do the same thing on my trailer every fall. I had a blow out many years ago and had a hell of time getting the wheel off with a deck over trailer, now I pull them off and clean the lugs and re-install.

Yes, I agree. I also carry a cheep floor jack and bottle jack along with a Dewalt cordless impact. They all have their own carrying case so they store nicely.

A little anti seize on the lugs and face of the hubs will take that excercise off your list for the next 20 years!
Seriously, just did rear brake pads for the first time on my 9 year old truck that has seen plenty of water, snow and salt. Was dreading everything being frozen up and when I took the brakes apart easily and saw the silver goo on the bolts I remembered how smart I was to do that about 8 years ago first time I had rotated the tires. Lol.

Tried my 06 28' dual axle again today. Jacked it up between the tires and lifted both tires off the ground a few inches. Then I had to kick the tire to squeeze it through. Do you have bearing buddies in yours? Mine does and that's what held mine up the most. I let most of the air out to get it back on, but I think if I pry the bearing buddies off it will be allot easier.

What a pain in the azz!! Hopefully They are manufacturing that problem
Out the of the new trailers.

I had the exact same trouble with my mirage trailer, I fought for hours trying everything I could think of and at the end of it all the only way I was able to get the old tire off and the new tire on was to let the air out of the tires. After that episode I sold the trailer shortly after, that was just a hassle I wouldn't want on the side of the hwy. Good luck
