Can you remove a sway bar from a REV without ruining it?

Seems to me that last year when I swapped my Nun, I left my sway bar in cause I didn't think I would be able to get it back in later if I didn't like the way it performed. I would like to take it out and try it and have the option of putting it back it.

Anyone done this?

I searched the old forum. I'm levin it in.

If you boondock and ride powder then get rid of it I remember when I made such a big fuss over it. It took me a while to decide to cut it out. Im glad I did, hate it took me so long to do it and never will ride with one again.

What is a sway bar???

Is it for road racer's?? Must be--I have never had a "Sway Bar".

H20SKE...

a sway bar is a lounge were you try to get a girl drunk so you can have your way with her:face-icon-small-win

1st one I took out, I cut.
Put another back in when the wife started riding.
If you don't have a skid/belly pan, it's real easy.

Get the front of the sled as high as you can, 3 feet preferably.(I used a come-a-long to the garage rafters. hooked into front bumper )
Unbolt all swaybar bolts(save em all).
Pull sway bar out from either side.
You have to kinda wiggle, and rotate it down, then pull it straight down to get it out.

If you have a belly pan riveted on, drill out the rear rivets to let the back of the pan hang down, then wiggle and pull like above.

I wish I would have tried this before cutting out the old one.
Good luck.

I agree with the skid plate but you don't have to swing it from the rafters. Just roll it on it's side. It will balance on the handle bar and the running board, lay down a blanket if you don't want scratches, and you can pull it out with a little twisting and such.

I took mine out yesterday, it takes less than an hour and didnt have to cut or jack up the front. I do have a belly pan protector.

Tools needed:
2 8mm sockets
1 14mm socket
1 vice grips or strong grip

1. Put it on one side and remove the 4 8mm bolts holding the end to the a-frame. Remove the two 14mm holding it to the tunnel.

2. Repeat for the other side.

3. Now that it is loose pull the plastic ends off and rotate the bar so the ends are pointing down, this will require bending it a bit and maneuvering it around the suspension. At first i didnt think it could be done without cutting, but it wasnt too hard.

4. Now gently pull it through the tunnel working it around the first bend in the bar.

5. I reinstalled the tunnel bolts because i was unsure if they provided any other purpose and they dont weigh much.

3.Cut at each bend with plasma torch, yank and toss in dumpster. If you ever need one, Post a "Wanted: sway bar-free" in the swap meet section and you'll have a grundle of them in your mailbox.

Yeah, I guess that would work. Except ,I had the handleBars off at the time :)

I hed mine in for the beginning of this year but I finally decided to take it out. I thought I would try and wiggle it out and save it in case I need it again. Well that is a pain in the A@@...I ended up getting my grinder with a cut off wheel and cutting the thing out.
I rode in West Yellowstone with it over the new years and I will never use another one again.

Take it out if you boondock or mountain ride. If you ride trails all day...leave it in.
