Can someone explain auto tune?...

So how exactly does it work? Do you just install it, install the pipe sensor and enable it on the PCV and shazzaam? Does it constantly tune as you ride? Do you constantly leave it plugged in and running while riding? What about riding at different altitudes... does it adjust on the fly?? Where is the sensor on the pipe installed exactly? If anyone can explain this to me that would be greatly appreciated!:becky: I'm currently running a PCV and really wanting to mate it with the auto tune this year for the piece of mind after the fix kit was installed! Thanks Matt

The ECU already compensates for altitude etc. So if you are using a good map it really isn't necessary.

The auto tune operates by constantly taking readings from an 02 sensor. It then adjusts to the Air/fuel parameters you want for different rpm and throttle opening. Keep in mind that you do have to tell it what you are looking for. It does constantly adjust as you ride.

Then you go back to your computer and see if the map it created makes sense. If not you may have to change your parameters or spend more time riding at a specific throttle opening. The nice thing is if you primarily ride in powder where your motor is constantly loaded you may create a different map than what a trail rider may have at the same rpm/ throttle opening.

Some people just leave their 02 sensor hooked up all the time. Others seem to think that the 2 stroke oil will eventually destroy the sensor. Once you develop a map there really is no need to continue using it.

I have heard different stories for location of the sensor itself. Most seem to mount it in the straight portion of the pipe just before the silencer. Some recommend doing it in the straight portion of the silencer itself. Mine is mounted in line with the factory exhaust sensor.

Hope that helps. I know there are quite a few people on here who can probably explain it all better than I.
