Can anyone tell me how to test fuel injectors?

Long story short: I have a 2005 Polaris 900 RMK that I've pulled the fuel injectors at the suggestion of my local shop but the two wires he said to hook up to a 12 volt battery, to test the spray pattern, didn't work. Anyone know how I can test these suckers?

my buddy did mine.. just bench test no flow. maybe you have a down injector

yeh you might test the function of the injector, but that means nothing.

without flow testing them, cleaning and replacing any worn parts..you can be running VERY lean and burn a motor down. send them in, for $19/injector, its well worth the week it takes to ship them, have them done and be back in your sled.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks guys. I will send these babies off and hope this solves my problems. Thanks again.

The saga continues

Okay, I had the injectors cleaned and tested. Turns out they only do a flow test. The numbers came back at 512 cc and 524 cc per min. at 20 psi both before and after the sonic cleaning. So bummer that there wasn't an improvement. I can't find the information anywhere as to what these injectors (yellow) are supposed to flow at or if the difference between the two means one is bad or what. GRRRRR!

Also, I'm wondering if there's a way to plug them into the fuel assembly and provide power in the system to confirm the current is getting to the injectors and opening them fully creating a spray pattern on say a piece of cardboard. Am I loco? I just hate to put this thing back together and have the same issues as when I took it apart and not fully test everything I can relating to the injectors.

Okay, I'll stop talking... Penny for your thoughts. :face-icon-small-coo

Also...

I used a local machine shop to test and clean injectors. That's what I get for trying to save time and shipping. Should I send them off to Witchdoctors or is that not necessary since they've been cleaned and we know the flow?
