Hey
Was out working on my nypex and realized i needed a apex gauge .$600 bucks ! HOLY . :face-icon-small-con I do have 3 nytro gauges kicking around though . not only would the fit perfect on my nypex but their free:face-icon-small-coo. the only problem i can see is maybe the tach being out due to the extra cylinder ? plugs the same . any one ever try this ?

the apex gauge doesnt work on the nytro so I would assume the nytro gauge wouldnt work on the apex...

I would just sell a couple of your gauges for the nytro and buy the correct gauge!

I used the Apex guage on my Nypex, for sure the Nytro one won't work right, you should be able to track one down for a lot less than 600, try TY4stroke or contact Laneo on here or over there he'll have one for probably for 1/2 that.

Actually I saw a post on ty4stroke where a guy replaced the nytro gauge with a apex one because the apex one is so much nicer and he got it to work with fairly minimal amount of effort. I will try to find it sometime and post to see if you could do it but backwards.

I've heard of the fuelie Vector/Nytro swap to get the analog guage but never and Apex one. I'd be interested to know how thats done.

The Apex guage will operate on a Nytro, but the tach with be off.
On the newer EFI Yamahas the speedo, rpms, and various other information is sent to the engine control module (ECU). Then the ECU sends the information to the guage via a single wire comm line. Basically it's 2 computers talking to each other, similiar to how it's done on newer cars and trucks.
The issue is that the Apex guage "thinks" that it is talking to an Apex ECU and comm signals are slightly different due to a 4 cylinder vrs 3 cylinder.
The EFI Vector guage works great on a Nytro and is very similar to an Apex guage in features:thumb:
To do the swap is easy, as the EFI Vector guage and Nytro guage have the same wiring pin-out locations, just plug it in!
To get the clock to keep time on the Vector guage on a Nytro, a battery B+ wire needs to be added to the Nytro connector.
After using the Vector guage for some time now, I find that the clock is kind of handy to have!

One other note, the Vector guage has an oil change reminder that will come on at 500 miles and then every 2500 miles after that.
