can a bad throttle position switch cause bad fuel range?

can a bad throttle position switch cause bad fuel range? i have a 02 zr 800 that gets awful milage and i was wondering if this could be a cause. the sled wont go slow. at 10-15 mph the sled spudders, misses, runs rough. but when you start to gradually increase your throttle from there it stays at the same speed and then it just takes off. like you accellerated fast then plains out. the sled only does this at lower speeds. at anything above 20 mph the sled is responsive immeaditly when you move the throttle.

It may be a bad sensor sending it more fuel than it actually needs. So to answer your questions, yes tps can go bad and will cause bad mileage.

We had a 02 RMK 800 and couldn't make it run right, just came on sudden like. We cleaned carbs , no help, we then started looking at the wiring. It had us stumped for a couple days then we stole a TPS from another sled and whamo runs like a champ. Yes they can fail and lead to all kinds of symptoms. Dino
