Camo xtreme noisy!!!!!!!!!

Just put a Tmbersled rear skid with Ice Age rails and a 2.5" x 15 x 156 Camo Xtreme track on my "08 Nytro and it seems like it makes a lot of noise. Never had the Camo Xtreme yet and wonder if this is normal. It is a fairly loud growling like sound. At first I thought is was rubbing but that is not the case, and then I thought it was to tight but I have tried loosening and also tightening but the noise remains consistent. I am at a loss, but it seems if something is wrong, maybe not and the noise is normal but it sure is annoying and feels like something is not right. I have about 250 miles since installing and used the stock drivers that show a little wear but nothing other than normal. Any suggestions? Thanks

How loud is it? I've run 2.5" extremes over the year and they all vibrate more and are louder. I'm running a "3 X "16 X 162" Extreme and it is louder and defaintly vibrates more than the stock maverick.

I can hear mine also. Thought something was wrong for awhile but couldn't see anything amiss so I figured if it ain't broke, don't be fixin it:rolleyes:

Farmer, Vibration may be a better word for what I am experiencing. It sounds like a metal to metal grinding like when a large truck bearing goes and you don't catch it right away. Make sense? I have never had an aftermarket track before and maybe this is just the way it is. Seems to have not caused any problems. All the miles so far are in the UP of Mich. Hope to be out in CO the last week in Jan. for the first time this year and just emailed your wife about meeting up regarding Spruce. Maybe you can give me some insight then in regards to both issues. By the way does that 3" track you are running clear on your Apex without any mods? I see some great deals on Apex's right now and am considering one. Not sure if the Nytro is what I thought it was going to be. It's a great sled but I miss that 4th cyl. torque. Thanks, Mark

metal to metal grinding that sounds bad did you double check the chain case? I know the track will have a louder growl to it then stock but it shouldn't sound like a bearing going? does it make the sound while riding in some decent snow?

Did you change drivers? If not what pitch track? Maybe the pitch is off, that would do it. Shouldn't vibrate that bad, I have the 162 X 16 X 2.5

That doesn't sound good. My track is louder but it's defaintly not a grinding noise. It's more like loud tires on a highway. We will defaintly have to hook up:beer;

I clear the track on my apex but I have a VanAmburg D&R and tunnel and I barely clear the 3" with the stock size drivers. I don't think it would clear a stock set up. :)

The Camo extreme 2.5 will clear on the stock tunnel on the Apex, I have one.

i think it is the ice age rails the slidders on them are puty loose so when the clips on the track hit it, it verbrates on the rail making a clicking noise mine does the same thing

I have the extreme on my RX with an M suspension and mine is noisy and vibrates more than I could have ever imagined... I took the chaincase apart, new bearings even though they were not bad, the suspension was new, loose or tight doesn't matter. Just chalked it up to a 3p track.. In my situation the 3p extros from wahl are supposedly not timed perfect...

Well after a little more research and riding another similar sled yesterday it appears it is just normal for this type of setup. I did check the chain & chaincase and it is fine. Maybe the metal to metal grinding sound was not described well, and as Farmer said his sounds more like loud tires on the highway. That is probably a more accurate description of sound. I guess there is nothing wrong and we put it together correctly and it is just the way it is. We got a foot of new snow last night and in the fresh snow you don't even hear it.

I have the same set up but with a 153 and avid drivers its loud I did change the rear upper boggie when I looked at the the rear shock bracket it was hitting the middle of the track.
what kills me is all the clutch rattle.

I am running a Camo 162 x 2.25 x 15 on my Nytro and it is very LOUD. Makes a wrwrwrwrwrwrwr sound so loud I thought something was wrong. I'm glad to hear this is normal, I thought something was messed up :o No one has said anything about how much better the sled climbs and goes through the deep powder..... so much better!

I'll take a little more noise in exchange for the dramatic difference in the way the Nytro performs with the Camo 162 track. :D

I just got a 162 16 2.5 camo ex on my Tapex. rode it last weekend for the first time. WOW!!!:D:D:D so much better than stock in our coastal powder.

and yes, it vibrates a bit, and is a little loader. maybe its loader because of the reduced space(2.5'' paddles) between the track and the radiator...
