Valid question.
First. We owe a huge "Thank you" to the guys at TS. They don't know us, but they have evolved an idea that has been in guys brains since the early 50's, trying to get a motorcycle on the snow.
With out Timber Sled we would all be doing something that is not as much fun. I was done riding sleds in the mountains, over and over for the last 25 years, after big bores, turbos' titanium tube chassis from Diamond S ( thanks Scott), Carbon fibre chassis, etc we wanted to try a new way to enjoy our old riding spots.
We started on the bikes with the single ski 4 years ago, and had a blast playing with bikes again...our first love!
But again we have huge respect for Timber Sled. We bought parts from them, bought many kits, sold tons of them to our buddies, and learned lots from them. These kits are NOT easy to build at all. Things look easy from afar, but start designing one, and it is a different story.
The quick facts.
It is called the "YETI" Snow MX,
We are going to release a basic website this Friday with a couple of photo's and some info. We have set up a couple of bikes for the show for some great dealers in Edmonton who want to start building orders for next winter.
We will be releasing technical info on each part of the YETI Snow MX starting next week through till March. Then a much more detailed web site after that.
Our original goal was to build a kit that made your bike feel much more like a bike by saving weight and reducing the HP it requires to drive the kit, allowing more people to enjoy the sport without huge dollars on power adders ( Turbo, Big Bore etc), thus keeping you bike easily convertible back for summer use.
We have completely built and ridden 4 generations of YETI's over the last 19 months, including 12 complete kits we rode all last winter on multiple bikes from a 200KTM that weighed in at 267lbs (with the 13L tank on it, and 3/4 full
120") complete to a 500XCW turbo bored to 610cc, all the while comparing them to the standard today, the Timbersled product. Plus 3 generations past those kits of complete kits we have beat on and tested ( means more complete kits built and tested in spring and this winter).
Here is a pic of our original first generation kit ( and yes we agree it was ugly, but it worked...) it was a 137" model with the 2" challenger track at 12.5 width and it was under 100lbs for the complete rear assembly.
That was a year ago........to be continued..........
