After years of riding, and having tons of mod sleds, PSI big bores ( remember those 1000 triples, 990's 995's 1120's etc) then titanium tube chassis sleds, big turbo's (1200 cat turbos), small turbo's etc, we got bored of sleds, on an on....chutes are not our thing anymore.
We are really excited about the YETI, many friends have also been looking for a change, for the "new" thing, but the new thing needs to be a better thing, and make riding more enjoyable.
The mountains will change into some version of snow bikes, to a point that bikes and sleds will be 50/50 or more bikes, just like ski hills saw the snowboard start in the mid 80's. There will always be early adopters, neigh sayers, sit on the fence guys, you get it.
What has been really interesting is how much fun the guys we ride with who are 50 plus who can get out and enjoy the mountains more, without all the physical effort of riding their sleds.
To me, the snowmobile manufactures have chased down the "baby boomers" ( where the money is) and made sleds that you can sit on the seat and " go anywhere" might as well tell them it is like a Harley.
Only when you get stuck on your T3- 174" it's not so easy to dig out. The bike has so many advantages now, and on our kit when you take 45 lbs off the rear ski, it is so much easier to manage, never mind ride. The middle age guys really like it, they can sit on the seat non stop and enjoy the mountains like they were 20 years younger.
Customer feedback is the breakfast of champions, it takes a real man to listen to some one critique your product. In the end that is what is best. We don't think we have it all together, but the tips we keep getting are helping us a lot and always give us new idea's. I would love to hear anyone's thoughts on the best ski etc. We have built 12 versions of the ski, and we are keeping on. It has been a great learning lesson. In the end one ski will not do it all, but you will be able to pick what you want it to do, maybe a great powder ski etc.
There are so many improvements coming, evolution is only a matter of time.
As for the turbo on the bike.....
I have a few of them. The LT will perform better based on your weight (?).
The ST will want to stand up and wheelie, based on how steep of a hill you climbing, it is very hard to climb a steep chute or wall with the turbo power on and the ST spinning hard. Where this would be an easy climb on a sled.
The new TS deeper lug track will help you a lot. We have tested 3" also. The more the better, but the manufacturers of the tracks cannot build any more than 2.5" track in less than a 151" length.
The who reason we started this was to make it fun without having to have the extra $ on the power adders, just buy a lighter kit. Yes the turbo's are fun, but you should be a bit of a gear head to use them still, they are not 100% fool proof yet...lol
on we go.....keep burning the gas.
Thanks
