C-Tech 2 800 Long Term Use Reports / Durability

Well, how’s 3 engines on warranty grab you?? All within 1200 km of riding.

2018 MC stock - 2800 kms crank through block, told snow ingestion
2019 Alpha stock - 1400 km crank through block, snow ingestion. Oddly enough this was the demo sled I had while my 2018 was getting a new engine and it blew 200m away from spot where my 2018 let go.
2020 HC SLP can, belt drive - 1200 km piston/pin bearing cage failure, dropped through bottom end and up through PTO cylinder so full engine replaced. Also had a faulty primary replaced and the belts it ate.

Even though I’m not having a lot of good luck on the engine side, none of the guys I know riding a ctec have had a single issue.

2300 miles no issues. removed the pipe and looked into the Y pipe and cylinder walls/pistons, everything still looked great. Ive heard of a couple ZR8000 with 7000+ miles still running strong on original engines. I addressed all the intake issues day one. I think thats the big secret to get these to last, keep the snow out of the intake.

2019 about 1700 miles. Runs strong still. My clutch did just grenade but besides that its.been great

2018 1100 miles, had the water pump seal and impeller replaced due to a coolant drip. Other then that runs strong and no issues with the engine or clutches.
One side note, I think that the belt is probably going to last for a long time, still looks like new.(y)

1,300 mi on 18 and all good.
1,300 mi on 19 and replaced the primary clutch and belt. Head leaks antifreeze while sitting in the garage, not sure if it leaks at all while riding? Replaced o-rings and no change. Still runs and performs great though.

my 2019 made it 175 miles and the motor was pooched. Dealer says injector failed. There were 0 codes that showed up. Sled hasn't seen deep snow yet. Dealer put in a new crate engine and new injectors on warranty, although my sled now only has warranty until February 28 of this year. I'll only get a couple rides before my warranty is up. Pretty disappointed coming off 8000 miles between my last two zuk 800's. Not sure if i'll keep this one for long

2019 Alpha - new crate engine dropped in at 1040km. Fun factor is 100% on these sleds but I won't be riding one next season. The hood design is terrible, I ride many 2-3foot fresh power days here in BC and this sled is constantly bogging/choking out, which affects my riding more then I'd like and I'm betting this motor won't last long either. I truly see Cat sleds as a great track and skid (people are breaking them tho) surrounded by sub par everything else. Was hoping for an over haul from Textron instead of just different shock packages, only time will tell.

1200 turbo ripper miles zero issues. Needs a snorkel in 3’ of pow. Anyone add one of these to the intake?

18 two motors in 1200mi. One crank bearing failure, one piston seized

19 800 mi crank bearing failure.

My hoods are all sealed up but Im still getting water in the intake. I added a strip of window seal strip on the hood where it meets the intake tract. Will see if that helps. But Ive had my sled outside on a super windy night, and have seen snow in the am sitting inside the top intakes. So it's getting through the frogzskins...

Is it the same bearing on the crank for both, the 18 and 19?
I thought all the bearings had oil lines feeding them?

2018 MC 200 miles, broke an exhaust spring

2020 Alpha 650 miles just oil and gas

Same one both mag side. Just not enough oil getting to them is my guess. Oh and I found a roller going out on my clutch. So need a new engine and new clutch at 800 miles...

Just replaced the clutch on my 18 yesterday as well. It had 1200mi on it.
