Buying a sled, need opinions

So I found a 2007 arctic cat m1000 163 with 2500 miles on it and the dealer wants $5800 for it. I'm not too familiar with cats iv only ever ridden Polaris figured I would try something new cause iv always wanted an m1000. I'm just wondering is this the proper price for this sled, and are there anything I need to be aware of with this sled (I.e I know they have diamond drive issues) any options/info would be appreciated. $5800 for an 07 sounds way to steep, even if it was brand new in the crate I don't think it would be worth that much. If I was going to get another 1000 I would get an 09 or newer the extra cost is well worth the addition in performance. Keep an eye on the classifieds and craigslist and you can find good deals. Common failure points on the chassis are the top of the tunnel where the steering post attaches and the bulk heads crack down each side where the front cooler is welded.

I wouldnt do it. I sold my 07 M1000 with 2900 miles for $3,800 last winter. 5800 is way to steep. Plus in 3 seasons on my 07 I went through: 1 diamond drive, 4 top ends, 1 crank and a bunch of little stupid stuff. I would never buy an 07 M1000 again. Just my 2 pennies.

Thanks for your input. Just got off the phone with the dealer and I was going to finance it. The guy said I got approved for a 36 month loan at $265 a month...considering I'd pay above 9k over the life of the loan for a $5800 sled..and that's with 1000 down. May as well just save up a few months of paychecks and buy something nice. Its hard to justify getting a snowmobile in mid June haha

Where you located? My dealer in Northern California has a left over 09 1000 for not much more than what that dealer was asking for that used 07. If memory serves me right it was $7500 + tax and prep.

That's where so many people get screwed. Local credit unions are the only way to go if you need to finance a toy or car. Super low interest rates.

for what is worth, I sold an 08 M1000 with ezryde,power claw an all the updates one can do minus motor (no turbo or pipes) with total engine rebuilt. and had comparable miles/hrs for $5500 in dec 2011 FOR COMPARISON ONLY

Crazy price for what it is, also unless the motor has been gone through I'd avoid 1000's with that many miles. Tha dealer is going to rape someone... don't bend over & let him do it to you. That sled should be under $4k.
