What would you guys do? Endure a season of no riding and snow check a 2013 Pro or buy a 2012? What changes do you think the 2013's will have if any?

That is a million dollar question. Its still way to early to tell. I wouldnt even hesitate to believe rumors that have already been going around of a new engine. Why would Polaris go to a new engine when they are just now getting the one they have tuned in? The current platform is what not even 2 years old? I guess it all depends on how bad you want to ride. Or if you want the 4 year powertrain warranty which you only get with a snow check. (unless you find a holdover that somebody didnt want) Just know you arent getting any younger :face-icon-small-win

EDIT: So lets say polaris did come out with a new engine. Would you want to be the guinea pig of the new platform?

Yup with only a 2 model yr old chassis, there may be some small changes to the front or rear suspension geometry, but make a radical difference? Most likely not.. That leaves powertrain.. perhaps a tied clutch stock?
And as jones noted above, it there is a new engine out, would you really want to be a first year consumer with the track record Polaris has had the last few years with new power plants?
If you found a good deal on a '12 I'd go for it.. Heck if Poo jacks the hp up in '13 just add a pipe/head combo and you're right there with it...

The 600 CFI2 hot rod motor in the 144 RMK will undoubtedly expand across the board, so if you are in the 600 market, this may be a consideration.

I've got to believe a direct injection 800 with higher HP is in development, whether or not it hits for 2013 is the million dollar question. Probably not, it seems like Poo is generally slow to roll out newer tech.

Polaris finally has a good motor.. abd are on top of the mtn segment right now. So ur bot gonna see big changes.

Id bet a new track

There is a retro 155 for sale, the guy wants 13,000 CAD. It only has 150km on it. I think I would rather have the 163 tho. Decisions...Decisions.

Buy a 12'. If a person is always waiting for the next best thing we'd never ride. I LOVE my Pro 163 Retro! Haven't had a Poo in ten years and am glad this is the year I bought one. I can't get over how awesome it is. I don't have one complaint. Am really glad I went with the softer seat though. Kinda nice when you're riding the trails to the deep stuff.

A year ago, at Seeley Lake, we had a couple of shorty RUSHs go by us as we were sitting with our helmets off and cooling down as we were waiting for a couple of the slower members in our group catch up. We were on the groomed back trails on the west side of the lake.

These sleds were all black.
No graphics.
I immediately thought they were factory test riders.

Didn't stop. Didn't wave. Kept on going.

They grabbed a LITTLE throttle when they got past us...they were QUIET!!!!!!

It was later "confirmed" by a dealer employee that they weren't local riders. LOL

I dunno but soemething IS coming.

My guess is the 4-stroke twin from the RZR XP900 with a big turbo and 30 pounds of ballast to compete DIRECTLY with the Proclimb.

Hey that is why Polaris won't make me a test rider. I HAVE TOO MUCH PERSONALITY! BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP :face-icon-small-sho:face-icon-small-win

I don't think there will be much improvement to the 800, it seems to be a pretty good power plant. Have not heard much negative feed back of the Pro's engine. I am going to call a few dealerships and find out if there are any 163's kicking around. Anyone know if they are hard to find?

There should be plenty left to buy, I bet some dealers still do not have all of there stock. I would not hesitate to buy a 12, I dont forsee any major changes for 2013.

I tend to buy and hang on to stuff. My 03 700 RMK was a great, super reliable machine and I put 6000 miles on it. Fast FWD to 2009 and I got the new sled bug hard in 2009 and was looking seriously at an M-8. Then the Pro came out and I was torn.

I didn't buy then due to an iffy employment situation but I did read everything posted in the Pro forum, especially the technical item stuff. I read peoples' complaints, critiques and compliments. I had some friends battle their 08-10 Dragons.

Last spring a guy let me take his 11 Pro 155 for a spin--pretty cool to let a stranger try your new toy--a couple of carves and a little jump off a bump later and my mind was HOLY MANUEVERABILITY BATMAN! I Gotsta have me one!

So I go home and launch my "New Sled in '12" campaign. I lost a close race in the Snow Check primary election by one vote...my wife's. As it turns out she was sandbagging me and went and ordered me a 163 behind my back. She clued me in for our anniversary in Oct.

So, all twitterpated with anticipation I read all the reports and threads about other people's '12s when they started showing up. I was looking for progress by Poo from the few bugs with the 11s.

My sled finally arrived at the begining of this month and I took it home and opened it up and inspected all the stuff the Pro pros said to check, and this sled is impressive.

-All the wiring harness issues from the 11's appear to be corrected (if I'd have known I would have bought stock in Poo's harness loom supplier 'cause there's a buttload of it in there).
-The riding ergonomics are great (for me)
-Underhood access and layout is good--everything is modular
-Fit & Finish is excellent--no spring buzz or panel rattle
-The ride is superb--this sled lives up to the hype

It's not a trail sled so stay off the hardpack or thin snow, and the boards ain't so great but my first ride was in abnormally wet, heavy snow. They might be fine in powder but I'm upgrading. Other than that? Really impressive.

If you're in position to buy but on the fence over quality? Get the '12 (while they last). Break it in correctly. Ride it as it was designed to be ridden and you won't be disappointed. If the 2013's turn out to be ZOMG awesome you won't have any trouble unloading a well cared for '12.
