Butte Meadows Hillsliders BBQ

Well it is getting close to that time of year again. I'm thinking that there will still be a Butte Meadows, assuming the fire stays NW of it, and thats where we'll be enjoying a little respite from the daily grind of life.

Come on and join us on July 20th at the volunteer fire station. Good food, good times and good friends are the order of the day. We have a great raffle with some very nice prizes, working on a few more suprises too. I think you'll have to work pretty hard to not have a good time.

Contact me through SW in the near future if you would like to offer a donation for the raffle. We will gladly accept cash which we'll use to put together raffle items. You can also drop off items at Glende Polaris and Withrow's Motorsports in Chico. I haven't talked to Chadd at CMS or Ron at Colusa Tractor, but I'll keep you updated about using them as drop points.

More to come, invite your friends early. I'm hoping some "riders" will grace us with there presence, if they can brake away from their furious keyboard flaming on the ES4 thread.:face-icon-small-win

MK! Lemmee know what I can do to help, I can donate a cordless set, Honda EU1000 genset (those generate some $$) or something of the like and if'n you need manpower as well, the fam would love to come and help!

Thanks King, I'll be in touch for sure. Amy and I just got back from Butte Meadows and it is still there, so far. Fires are a safe distance away from habitation. Helped Bill at the Outpost feed about a 100 firefighters last night. Those dudes were mighty thankful that the didn't have to eat C-Rations.

A little poll - how many of you are on the fence about going because you have young kids. Gosh knows their not nearly as excited to eat & drink as you. I'm trying to put together a little bounce house action for them, however these things aren't free so unfortunately, if your kids the only on coming they might have to play in the creek nearby.

Please let me know either on here or email. There are also a "few" trailer spots around Butte Meadows. There are also two campgrounds near by, one of them has bathrooms and water, the other is more of a "dry" camp. However, if you have a selfcontained camper or trailer is a little rustic, but I have stayed there before.

Thanks again King, I'll be talking to ya!

Stacy - I'll be at the Fire Station around 10am Friday to help with the setup. Hangin around Mintons place behind the Bambi the rest of the day, probably having a cocktail or 12 ??? Are you going to be up there on Friday?

Mike

King - As of today, Hwy 32 from Chester is closed due to fires, 70 from Quincy is controlled due to fires, so the best way from Reno is 80 to 20 to Marysville, north on 70 to Chico, then 30 miles east on 32 to the Butte Meadows turnoff and about 6 miles from there to Fire Station 10.

Alrighty everyone,

Here is the deal. The

excl_ed_comoglio_marbatch_Image-9.gif

is a go. So I'm expecting to see all of you next Sunday 7-20 (or perhaps Saturday Night:beer;) at Butte Meadows.

Unless the backfire..err "firing" the FS does today or tomorrow consumes the mountain in a conflagration of biblical proportion, the Hillsliders invite you to enjoy some clear skies, cool temps and good times. Yes the air is better up at altitude, there is about a 15 degree temp difference and as many of you have witnessed, we have the savoir-faire to show you a good time.

As one of your hosts, if you attend, I will personally thank you for your attendance with an open mouth kiss. Perhaps thats a little strong. How bout a laurel and hardy handshake - I think thats probably a lot more agreeable to most of you and fashionable. However, if you hit up the "club" scene the night before, all bets are off.

I will do my best to keep everyone informed on the road conditions, which as of right now are open from Chico to Jonesville. As of this point HWY 32 is closed from the Butte Meadows turn off to HWY 36. Not to mention that the forest road is closed from above Jonesville toward Chester. At this point I wouldn't mess around up in that area because there are a lot of fire support personnel. I guess if your coming from Chester you'll need to take Humbug all the way to the Skyway then into Bambi Inn. You could come in from over at Coon Hollow to Bolt Creek to the Fire Station, but you won't do it in a Prius, and you should probably know the way. I'm hoping that by next weekend that at least the Humbug-Scotts John route will be open to vehicle traffic. More to come on that.

Anyhoo, if you'd like to donate a raffle item by all means bring it with you. If you can't make it or want to get that task off the list, you can drop your donation at Glende's, Withrow's or Chester Mountain Sports and we'll see that they get brought to the event. If you'd like to donate cash, we'll put that to use also - either buying raffle prizes or purchasing supplies. We usually have a pretty large selection of items (with your help) so turn in those recylceables and bring your can money with you.

If you have any questions post up on here, or sjgfarming@yahoo.com or if you need instant "satisfaction" chat me up at 530-624-3526. The success of this event is what helps make our trail system one of the best in the state. We may not have the notoriety that larger sytems have, but I think you can all see what a vital part of the Northstate sledding community we have when you see the parking lot full of happy sledders. Not to mention the increasing need to participate in FS route designation planning and educating the public at large about the true impact of the snowmobile community.

Now how about that smooch!:lips:

Tuesday 0830 JIC Update -

State Highway 32 is now open with controlled traffic through Deer Creek Canyon from the junction of Highway 36, south towards Chico. The public should expect short delays. Humboldt Road remains closed at the point that the paved portion of the road ends, just past of Jonesville.

The communities of Butte Meadows and Jonesville remain in Precautionary Threat Evacuation status

For those on the Chester side, if you know if Humbug is open, please post up. I'll try to find out if its just "Humboldt" is closed, because if thats the case - all you Eastsiders could come on over a-ridin' into town, a whampin' and whompin' :face-icon-small-win

We're getting closer to free access to our forests. Good news is I think that once the "firing" is done the pre cautionary evac order might be lifted. Bare in mind that the evac order doesn't prevent you from enjoying Butte Meadows, its a heighten state of readiness/preparedness to leave if conditions change.

Oh & BTW - Thanks Jlowe

Hey MK! Sorry just back from a weeks escape to San Diego and do some surfin and relaxin, we will be there (wife and I) and if you could gimmee a jingle at 800-388-5258 ask for Jeff Schauer I will get with you on some gimmees for the raffle as stated earlier a cordless set for sure. Sounds like good digs man :)

Thanks King, will do. And thanks to Phatty for the hook up also.

The latest is that Hwy 32 is closed, as of last night, again. Its OK to go to Butte Meadows though and we have no plans to cancel or scale back the BBQ. For THose of you that would come from Chester, I still don't have any comfirmation that Humbug Road is closed. Thats the "low" road at the intersection above Jonesville - it goes out to Butte Creek Canyon - Scotts John Creek - Snag Lake Triangle - Humbug Summit - cinder pits - Fanani Meadow.

Perhaps you are unsure of what the definition of gimme is.

-Someone benefitting from affrimative action

I can guarantee it is not

You as a sponsor, and seeing as Amy & I are taking care of the raffle, I think I can buy you one. Although if you win, you'll have to come out when the snow flies and get it yourself. I promise I won't put it on top of any hills - some of your "friends" on here claim you have an issue with heights.:face-icon-small-win

Phatty

UPS just left! UPS just left! UPS just left! UPS just left!

Everything looks good - except one of each of them seemed to have "broken open" during shipping. I'll have watch them to make sure that there still "saleable".

Thanks again.
