Bummer on first ride in Bues Mountains

Buddies invited me out to a shakedown run for all our sleds in the Blues Mountain for today. wanted to take a trial run a somewhat short ride to get the bugs out of what we all done to our sleds this summer , all went under handle bar, riser and post strengthening or relocating and track and skid upgrades, and seats on sleds also, running board mods on of the 3 sleds had out today , We had my sled a 97 Summit 670x motor and 153, buddies 97 Summit 780 mod tripple 151 , buddies 99 Arctic Cat ThunderCat 1000 tripple 159, (man those tripples have power over my 670x) but plenty happy with what it has. was inpressed on the crawly floatation that our sleds have felt like could go about anywhere had about 3 1/2 feet of powder off trail and good powder on main road, after getting bucked off a time or 2 myself by going alittle to fast over the moguls, and buddy tipped the sled over off the bank on just a turn around that was funny (Sorry Jerry) lol.

shortly after that my sled lost power and got stuck next to back, and we spent a couple hours, trying to figure out what was wrong , couldn`t figure out why it was acting like starving for fuel but, then flooding the plugs with fuel after only a few pulls , course all of this after had to remove the recoil and reinstall the rope that pulled out , finaly figured only was to ride it back to the truck is to start it and go slow while had to try to rev it and when it started to die give it a shot from the primer, was hard to ride with one arm on the throttle and other on the primer, buddy and I traded off a time or two to get it back to truck. after I jumped on the 780 Summit for the first time, and had fun for a little while on it, buddy stopped and decided to go back to Rose Springs and they could play in the Pow on the hill, so we turned around even with how my sled was running (wasn`t that far), by the time we made it back for some reason my sled cleared up for him and started running perfect, (we figure crankcase was way full of fuel and it took some full throttle runs to clean out. I jumped on it on the hill there and we all had a blast, floatation was awesome all mods on suspension panned out easy to lay over , running boards clean out awesome.

Heres where It get interesting after my sled cleared up we all decided to head back to the Tower to play and then come back, figured all bugs were over with before we got the the tower broke off main road to cut through a short cut area and got out in a meadow that had a crap full of stumps buddy in 780 got stuck and set against a stump and few seconds later same thing happened to me about 100 ft back didn`t hurt the sleds but just touched both of them, got the 780 dug out and going and went back to get mine and turned around to go back to main road and then on to the tower I started back set it in buddies track and headed out alittle out of whack in powder and had to lay it over to get back into shape, felt the track starting to trench so layed into the throttle as just as the front started to pull up out of the pow I evidently hooked a solid stump just inside the LH ski and hit so hard and abrupt completely stopped the sled and crapped me over the handle bars and the sled on it side just about on top of me could feel my left arm hurting bad, I think how I landed and hit it on the bars as pitched off couldn`t move it away from my side till I heard a pop and felt it in my upper arm started feeling better after that still quite soar but was able to ride sled out, but wow, lots of damage bent all of front suspension LH side and pushed trailing arm bracked back far enough to bend the crap out of the running boards. but the time I got a few miles from the truck, throttle was startiing to stick , had a crap load of bad luck but in spite of all when sled ran good had a total blast, good to be out with good helpful friends, hope to get sled fixed soon and go out again, hopefully leave all the troubles in town.

Every one be safe and watch out for the stumps and rocks, Darren

Thank You, Sorry story was long but the day felt even longer,

I guess disadvantage of knowing how to type fast, usually have better sentence structure was still tired and soar. but ready to go out again as soon as possible was lots of fun. have to fall back to the 580 Arctic Cat for awhile.

Still a bummer about the sled. I knew better than going through that area with the soft deep snow conditions. I will help the best I can on repairs.

Dont worry about it Jerry, you don`t have to feel bad S#@t happens we made it back and better yet was able to ride it back ( it actually handled really well with about 3inch of toeout on left ski) lol,

we`ll get it fixed, I am so happy that I have a sled that will go back in those places , was amazed how with the big tracks how you can just crawl along pushing snow well over the hood and get into the throttle and just speed up, I could feel the sled walk its way up on the powder. was incredible feel. I didn`t think it would be easy as it was to play in that deep of powder with confidence we would even stop in it and you could take right off. Cool.
