Buffalo Pass

I've been up on Buffalo in the summer , came up from west side through Steamboat, is this the same way to come up in the winter, where is there parking allthe way up? Friend just moved up in the area and thinking of coming up that way.

I come from the east side out of Grizzly creek lot near Colemont/Walden, but you can come up that west side trail to the same area. If coming from the east the grizz lot is closer and a real quick jaunt up to the good stuff.

I went hiking up there with my brother(lives in Denver) was bikeriding at Steamboat, seemed easy to get there from town, can it be done can you park on the forest road , do they plow it, i.e. can you come up from the west side?

What are the road #s west and east side, whats the best if staying in Steamboat? Come on dont be selfish. Help a brother out.

If you are staying in town you can use the Dry Lake parking area on the buff pass road. Best to get there early as spots are limited and you will get ticketed if you park in non-designated areas. Or you can head to the top of Rabbit Ears pass and utilize any one of several parking areas. Dumont, Muddy creek, the curve lot...etc. They can get fairly full on weekends. The terrain on Buff tends to be a bit more technical and harder to navigate. There are more large open parks and plenty of moderate areas at the ears. The Ears has plenty of extreme steep and deep as well but it does have a better variety for groups with a broad range of abilities.
