BRP steps up, replacing Summit driveshafts

teeroy who's your dealer?
Thomas Homes and RV in Peace River, been buying sleds and quads from there since 2000 when my old dealer in Falher shut down and went to Thomas as a wrench. they've always treated me well, not sure if it's because they like me, or just want to get me out of there. squeaky wheel gets the grease.....:D

they warrantied my clutching and gearing changes, gave me new handwarmers before mine quit, handed me a ****load of belts for free, and are now replacing my driveshaft that hasn't broken. they have stepped up IMHO....

My dealer in Colorado has done the same thing

this could be bad for business !!!!

LMFAO, At least it will save you on gas money!

Ditto, it's nice having a good dealer. Mine welded mine last year, and didn't charge me for any of the other BS! I'd just bring my sled by after I'd get done riding, and pick it up the next day. Never missed one weekend of riding! My only gripe was the handwarmers on the cold days. Had to go buy a heavier pair of gloves.

this was the first doo I've owned that the warmers actually felt like they worked! my buddy that has always had Cat would crank his up, you couldn't put your bare hands on them....I was jealous of his warmers...lol. I noticed my left one had quit while loading the sled the night before we were to head to BC, and it was the updated cork backed warmers. called the dealer at 5:45 on friday night, he left me a new pair of warmers wrapped up in a bag by the fencepost of their driveway. I went down to the shop (20 mins away) and picked them up out of the snowbank....I put the left one on that night and still have the other for a spare.

I just called a dealer here in MN and they have not heard a peep of this from BRP... :( They did however tell me that if BRP does "officially" release info relating to this that they will be glad to replace both my 154X and my wifes 154X driveshafts.

Waiting and hoping.....

I got a call from my dealer today (about my 09 snowcheck) and while on the phone I asked about the rumored driveshaft recall. He did confirm it and said that they will replace all of them.

My dealer is the same as PJ's.

No PR yet that I'm aware of. My dealer said that they were verbally told this last week when they got briefed by BRP. Maybe someone can sweet talk their dealer into getting a copy of the memo when it comes out.

Now thats what I'm talkin about!!!

It's awesome that they are dooing that for you guys! FINALLY!

I've been saying that if they stepped up and warrantied all the issues on these I'd buy one! Now the clutch and motor mounts and the sporty blue/white 146" is my next new sled!

Talked to my dealer today and he played dumb and said he knew nothing about it. Also said that the rear shock issue isnt pressure, its the location of the shock, no recharge for free, is this true?

You need a new dealer. Mine knew that I have been concerned about the driveshaft since last year so he emailed me about it. Now it's just a waiting game.

on a side note, toss those stock shocks and get some Fox Floats

Bulliten is not out yet. Should be out mid Septmeber and you WILL get a letter. this is a saftey recall EVERY SLED will get a new drive shaft regardless if you welded it or replaced it last year. There making 1000 per day it will be a long process be patient 30,000 drive shafts total it will take a while.

Thanks for the detailed information ChesterMtnSports, much appreciated!

Safety recall, so that's like when the highway department finally puts in a guard rail. Enough people had to die. Or, in BRP's case, get hurt. Or, am I thinking wrong?

no your right and everyone can thank me now for bringing the issues of the greatest sled in your own mind out of the closet!!!!

Anybody heard from RTR Performance in Kamloops, BC Canada if they are going to be replacing drive shafts in September?

Haven't had a chance to head down there to find out yet.

Is Skidoo going to be warrantying clutch mods to the 08's so same as the 09's?

I asked my dealer about upgrading to the new '09 bushings, rollers, and ramps, he said no dice....
