BRP steps up, replacing Summit driveshafts

Talked to my dealer this morning, he stated that they will be replacing driveshafts in all the '08 Summit sleds he sold last season. some sort of safety recall, they should have parts in and swap them by mid september...nice.

check with your dealer, sounds like only mountain sleds so far.

don't know for sure, he never mentioned anything about US sleds. you would think they'll change them all, call your dealer.

If it's a safety issue, they should change them out in all Summits, reguardless of where it was bought at.

I called three BRP dealers in Colorado and they have heard nothing. The only thing that they have heard from BRP is if the shaft does break they are to replace it.

The answer is yes. All 08's all locations. Confirmed by dealer this morning. Replace now or in the future it's covered.

Yeah we were told a week ago or so. Got actual confirmation on monday. All XPs are involved. However, HOWEVER, we are only gonna see 10% of what we sold at first. And not until the second week of September. There's roughly 50,000 XP's manufactured last year. Supplier can supply 1000 a month. That means there will be backorders until almost this time next season. Be patient, I know I'm gonna have a trainwreck of mad customers come snowfall but we're all in the same boat. Waiting for parts.

this is excellent that brp is doing this, i'm not sure what set of circumstances caused it to happen....i'm sure their bean-counters are in a state of over-whelming angst....now if brp would step up and take care of my warranty issue, i would be greatly appreciative

How do I get me dealer to recognize the recall? I called them and the warranty/recall dept. knows nothing of it. She even punched in my VIN no. and no information came up.

Already had mine replaced after it banana peeled on me during a climb. I did a nice handstand over the sled when it stopped and I didn't.

They stepped up? fixing their poor design/manafacturing is "stepping up". I'm glad they did state they would fix them, now if they were going to "step up" they would fix my 07 then fix the 08's and then keep the 09's going, then let's see, I have an old 69 twin track somewhere around here that needs some fixin'. Man I hope this 09 year is finally going to be a gooder. Trips to the dealer are going to be expensive.

they warrantied my clutching and gearing changes, gave me new handwarmers before mine quit, handed me a ****load of belts for free, and are now replacing my driveshaft that hasn't broken. they have stepped up IMHO....
