Broken wire to 06 REV TPS, can I fix?

Doing an upper and lower end rebuild on my 06 REV 800 and I'm almost done...Whewww, but !!!

One of the wires to the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) is completely broken and the other two have cracked insulation :(. Question is, can the broken wire be fixed? ie can I just buy new pins and rewire the female plug in to the TPS sensor?

The broken wire is the black/Green wire and goes into pin position #3.

Looks like what is known as a weatherpack connection. You can get either male or female ends and crimp them with a weatherpack crimper, then you push them in place in the plastic receptacle they are common on later model automobiles as well. Here is a link..

I think they are the same as OEM or at least its worth a shot. There is also a handy little tool to remove the connector from the receptacle.

Might be able to do it yourself. Sometimes can save the old metal connector if you can get it out without messing it up, otherwise GM parts dept should have about anything you'll need for new connectors. I use a craftsman "pick" to get it unlocked from the plastic. You can kind of crimp the new one on with just a pair of small needle nose pliers if you need to. Do this type of stuff at work all the time for lights on our trucks.

I was able to get the pins to release but wasn't able to find an exact match for the female pins. There was about 1/2 inch of wire still crimped in the Black/Green pin so I just stripped that back, soldered it and covered it with 2 layers of heat shrink tubing. The Beige/Brown wire had about 1/2 of it's strands broken so I clipped that one and treated it the same (solder/heat shrink) and the Violet/Brown wires only had a couple of strands broken so I just put 2 layers of heat shrink over that to protect and reinforce it. The job turned out pretty clean so I should be good to go.

Man, I'm ready for this job to be done
