I have been trying to read as much about these mods as I can, so I can make the (hopefully) right decision as to what to do.....or do all 3. The amount of time that these mods have been on the snow now, I hope I can get some really good feed-back as to what is best. I have a 163, 16 wide, 2 1/2 "Peak". All of my riding is in the mountains, with powder for most of the season and then spring riding to finish of the year. Any feed-back will be GREATLY appreciated, in advance, thank you for any help.
Oh, by the way, if I do need to brake my track, what is the best way to do it?:face-icon-small-hap

I would sell the Peak and buy a flex edge. I have seen and heard of many durability issues with the Peak, so breaking or cutting might be a risk.??
The Peak or a Camo Extreme will work better in the powder than the Peak.

I ran my peak track all last season with no durability issues at all, not a mark on it, from creek crossings to chewing over buried logs. Any of the guy`s around here that I talked to about the track , have really liked it and I have not heard of any issues from any of them either. The traction, I have found, is excellent and the floatation and ability to get up on top of the snow quicker than the other tracks is also better and these are the same good things I have heard from other`s also. Not to say that others have not had issues...... there are always some horror stories out there about all parts, weather they are OEM or aftermarket. I just want to get it to side-hill better......and a little more track speed is always better. LOL

Come on gang, there has to be more guy`s out there with more info. on this subject....lol.....let`s hear it!!!!!

I have done all three, one stage at a times so I have a good idea how effective each mod has been on my 151.

1) Ported with dual 1.25" holes--less snow build up in the skid, track easier to turn by hand, slightly better rolling. 5 years, no track issues
2) G-mans 15/16--less snow in tunnel, less rolling resistance, easier to initiate a turn/counter steer. Side hilling much improved and no reduction in climbing traction.
3) Broken track--sled in trailer tailgate with post jack holding up rear bumper.
Loosen track to turn by hand, stool to sit on, 3/16 drill bit, drill right next to the base of the lug 2" from the track edge. You will feel the bit drill the rod and feel the resistance change when thru. I drilled a few rods too far and put a few small holes in the track but no issues after 2 years of riding.
Result, sled a little squirrelly on hard pack trails but a big improvement in side hilling. I didn't physically break the track by hand but rocked it back and forth numerous times, then went riding.
4) Stage II broken track--I cut the track lug from tip to the base to allow the track to flex easier--gutsy move but rode it all last year with no lug isssues and really like how it side hilled.

I just installed a 154 off an 11 XP and am getting ready to duplicate what I did to the 151--not sure about porting but will doo the rest.
