First, thanks to all who shared insite to this repair, actually replacement of the steering post, providing me some sense of the job before I began.
The motor did not have to be unbolted and tipped to do the job but the followind did: removal of gas tank, airbox, secondary clutch, ECU/VR mounting plate and the underlying mounting plate ( this was necessaryto loosen left hose clamp on throttle body ), and finnally the throttle body.
The nut for the steering linkage was abit of a bear to undo as it spun once the nut was loosened. I will pickup a 1/2 in crowwfoot wrench 3/8 drive for the install tomorrow as it is the only wrench i can get in there short of manufacturing one.
