Has anyone else had problems with breaking a drop bracket. Mine broke in half on my 09 for some reason and tons of damage was caused to my tunnel and suspension.

Are you talking about the drop down bracket for the rear suspension mount. If so a buddy of mine had the same problem but his was from hitting a rock. Bought a new part from the dealer like $22.00 and we changed it out at the shop. Minus straightening the foot rails and drilling out the rivets, it was pretty easy. Plus me had to borrow a big azz rivet puller to pull the huge pop rivets that you will also have to order from the dealer.

If ski doo would have machined this bracket and not made it from cheap pop metal it would be a little stronger, but thats what you get for cheap and light.

Yep. This is the bracket I am talking about. I would understand if I was hit from the side or I had a very bad landing but I was just bangin the whoops on the road. Im just trying to figure out if I have something else going wrong to have caused this.

Can't think of anything that would cause it to just break unless it had a bunch of stress on it from something else. Maybe the stress from pounding the whoops caused it, that is a lot of stress on the suspension pushing up and down on the bracket plus all the flex from the running boards being so flimsy. Can't really see how that could work harden that piece but it is possible. Fix it and see what it does. Hopefully the other side isn't short to follow after carrying all the weight and stress from the other side being broken. My buddies is fine for now but only time will tell.

I broke mine but it was due to my wife running into the back of me:eek:

I broke both of mine off. Didnt damage anything else though. Mine was not any fault of doos though. I have a fabcraft skid with the Walker Evans air shocks. My rear shock had lost some pressure and bottomed out easily. I hit a pretty big bump hard, bottoming out the suspension hard and broke them off. I replaced them with the Timbersled drop brakets. I think they are much stronger.

I modded and long tracked a TNT, made new drop brackets, was able to brake one of the stockers bending it with my hands after it was off the tunnel. Very soft weak aluminum alloy!!

Good Luck

Bottoming out would put huge stress on the brackets. Here is a thought though, if track alignment is pulling on way wouldn't it put more stress on one side or the other when bottoming out? I have seen one broken up here but the rider had let the mount bolt loosen causing it.

I broke one on a 08 and the dealer warrantied it but now I have some wrinkles in my tunnel. Tweaked the running board pretty bad but was able to bring it back into shape. Those brackets are pretty flimsy. I didn't hit anything with either.
