Bringing fuel across the border! Help?

I'm going to pick up my sled in Washington next weekend and I have a big slip tank in the back of my truck filled with marked diesel. I have no intentions of filling it when I'm across the border I just need to cross when I pick up my sled then return home. Am I going to have any troubles? Thanks.

If your coming to Spokane, let me know when I'll try to meet you there.. Who knows we might ride together some day..

Congrats on your new sled..

Stop on the Canadian side, on your way down, and ask them...or call the border and ask to be sure.

in the states u can have died fuel in the bulk no problem just dont put it in your pickup big fine down here if caught.but you can carry it.

You can buy red fuel in the states about anywhere with the swipe of a credit card.

My only concern would be that you declare it when you leave CAD so they don't try and tax you when you come back through on your return trip.

They ALWAYS give us a hard time if we bring fuel from the states up for our sleds. The last time through they let us go but we had the sleds full of fuel and about 60 gallons of US fuel. They wanted us to pay the tax on the fuel in the cans and the sleds. The dip wad at the border couldn't find the tax rate or the actual rule so he let us go. Just something to watch.

thanks guys. ive decided that im just going to take it off the truck for my trip. the only problem is that is has about 600L in it still...

I have been back & forth 4 times over the years. May was the most recent trip. I carried a 90 gallon tank in the bed plumbed into the truck & 6 55 gallon drums of diesel on my car trailer with the wife's TBSS. I put the appropriate fuel placards on the barrels & bulk tank. The Canadians didn't even ask about them & the Americans just chuckled and said I guess you didn't want to buy anything in Canada. I doubt that anyone would say a word to you as long as the tank has a placard. I have crossed at Sumas & Sweetgrass both.

They always gave us a hard time about race fuel for the race cars. I didn't drive the transporter but the mechanics always bitched about being hassled. I try and run only non ethanol in my sleds and planned on bringing them up full, fuel jugs full and 2 drums so I will prolly have to deal with this soon.
