Breaking Recoil rope

I have a 2003 Mountain Cat 900 that I have a D&D big bore engine in. I keep breaking recoil ropes. I know that I can get the adapters for the recoil conversion from an M-Sled, but I wanted to stick with the stock setup. Any suggestions on what type of rope to use that doesnt break? This might be a stupid question, but is there a type of cable you could use? any information would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!

I went through a few as well (sucks when they break while out riding). Switched to a Marine grade rope, and that has held up quite well. Got it from Waldron Arctic in Issaquah, Washington.

get it at any rope shop they probably will have to order it but you'll never break it again. and i hate to say this don't kill me but climbing rope will do the same thing if you can order from rei or wherever,buddies did it with bb's i bought the amsteel more money but i hate most granola munchers

Rope from REI, It is 3500+ lb. climbing rope 5 or 5.5MM? Black in color and has worked great. Just pull over slow a half dozen times. Also installed the rope guide for the '04's and later.

On some of the climbing rope I tried the outer layer would tend to bunch up at the hole in the recoil and cause it to stick. Got some rope from Starting Line Products that hasn't broken yet. I can get you the starter adapter for $57 to $67.50 shipped, depending on which version.

i went with the adapter and here are a couple things....fit and finish is great and starting is sooooo much easier on cold days. Picked mine up from idacatman1 and him and his son have been great to work with.

Other than that on my stock recoil I have some pink rope from 4Z here on the forums...garaunteed not to break

Get the rope guide tube for a King Cat. I broke 4 pull ropes before I put on the guide tube and none since.
