breaking in the Pro RMK

Just wondering what everybody thinks about the break in process for these guys? I have read so many different suggestions on here. 15:1, 30:1, 150 miles, 300 miles, just WOT right away. What should I really do. Also, I can't get the ethanol fuel in AK, so should I remove that plug? Any suggestions are more than welcome.

1) Doesn't the USA have a mandate now such that ALL fuel has at least 10% Ethanol now? If that is not correct and you truly DO NOT have 10% Ethanol fuel in you Gas in AK then turf the chip...and be thankful...

2) Polaris say Pre-Mix 40:1 in the tank with their NON-VES oil, according to the owners manual...(their partly synthetic) for the first tank...

I however have never done this...When I first got the sled home I raised the rear-end and simply ran the motor till it warmed up and then shut her down. Repeated a couple of times over a few days. Then, I took it for a "break-in ride". I litterally rode, scrathers down, on loggin roads until I got the 2 hours burnt off the clock. My thumb just about fell off...I did not hold consistant RPM for a second....wap, wap, wap.

This is more than I have done for any other sled I have EVER owned.

Generally, I pick it up at the store, wap, wap wap up the road on the way to my first ride....then ride it like I stole it. Owned at least 7 brand new sleds...I've never had an issue...(dont know about the guys that bought them from me tho)

this is just one mans advice....I am sure smarter men will piss on this method

no that isn't right we don't have 10% in south dakota and wyoming doesn't have 10% in every gallon. only one state i heard that they do was minnesota, and that wasn't from anyone there, so i honestly don't know if they have that in MN either. we have 3 choices at the pumps, 87 no ethanol, 89 10% ethanol, and 91 no ethanol premium, biggest problem i have is not every gas station carries 91 anymore.

run the non ethanol plug.., do at least 1 good heat cycle...then ride it..easy for the first 10 miles(constantly varying the rpm..full throttle is good..but to the bar and right back off..no holding it at any rpm)farther you go the longer you hold it full throttle..by the end of 10 miles..let er rip...watch all your guages closely...and be sure and warm it up to at least 120 before you move it..every time...(thats how i break mine in..and it works for me)..now..for the oil in the gas..i dont..but most do..

1 st tank 40:1, gave her 3 heat cycles first, then I check ALL, bolts for correct torque...then breakin ride maybe 30-40 miles wap wap wap..uhg my poor thumb...then let it rip.. always done it this way...oh I add about 1/2 ounce per gallon oil to fuel in my sleds always.

Don't know if the "chip" burns in or what around 50-65 miles but power picked up and sled ran cooler at about 65 miles, actually added some weight to the primary....:face-icon-small-coo

I would run the ethanol jumper for break in even if you have non ethanol cause it adds like 5% extra fuel, keeping it a little fat and putting more of the premix in the motor via injectors, keeps things safe, then once you have burnt the premix tank out I would take the ethanol jumper out.
