There's only about 12 inches up there, but its a solid base!! The ski area is claming 18" but they fib a little usually.

Picture a guy flying over the handlebars due to one ski catching underneath a solid 16" diameter downed tree...

It was pretty funny until he got back on his sled and was like, "huh, this will be interesting with no brake"
