This situation sucks and is wrong in so many ways, however, the idea of parents calling their kids anytime would make for chaotic and less than positive learning environment. Can you imagine the interactions that would take place between some "the rules don't apply to me" biotch and her sweet little prima donna.

Holy CHIT! I kinda know how he feels, Im 13, My school administration sucks! My mom was trying to call me during school to inform me that my grandpa died.....I answered, and I got my phone tooken away. Didn't even get to talk...

He was walking out of the class!!!! Wasn't even disturbing the class. He should of been able to put it on speaker phone so the whole school could thank him for his service. May of been the best lesson for everyone!!!!!

I guess the assistant principle is a liar. He told the dad he could call his son. That's the kind of lesson they teach kids these days.

I wonder if the teacher would take a call from her husband, if he was over there and called?

I think I would pull my kids out of that school. When my brother was in Iraq if I was lucky enough to get a call from him I would drop whatever I was doing because I never knew when i was going to talk to him again.

I understand why they have those rules against using phones in the class room. If they didn't you wouldn't get anything accomplished, but teachers need to have a little discretion. If they can't see that situation has special circumstances they are obviously not smart enough to teach our children.

I agree with the school in this case. If there was an arrangement to receive calls, then have the kids take the call in the vice principals office. The school my kids go to do not allow phones at all during the day. Call the school, the school gets a note to the kids. Why take the chance on disrupting the class.

I do think it is great and applaude the Dad taking time to call his kids, but if you allow it for one you need to allow it for all. Would you like your kids education disrupted due to constant phone calls all day?

It is hard enough to try and get them to learn as it is, why introduce other distractions.
