Bought a 2007, 700 Dragon, 155. Bone stock, except for MBRP can, and looking for ideas. What have you guys found are the best mods to squeeze the full potential out of these sleds?

usually the polaris 700's are a pretty bulletproof engine but every once in a while you hear about a bad one. i would recommend the slp exhaust, their stuff works really well on polaris. do a search on here to see what others have done. i ride the old chassis but alot of guys on here have had the same sled as you.

After reading the "Shame on you polaris" thread, you may want to save money for repairs.

Bought Sled from a family friend. 1800 miles and not a single problem to this point...It's like anything man made though, they are all bound to have a few bad eggs.

I have a 07' D7 in the process of putting on a 163"x 2.5" extreme. I now run a SLP single/HPS can, Power Addiction billit head w/13.3to1 compression, Doug Ruth/ Fastrax porting, and Vforce3 reeds. It runs real good for a 700, I ride 0-5000ft. I ran twin pipes, but they only working right at high altitude and with race gas.

I will vouche for dougs sled...it rips for a 700 is a blast to ride........pulls hard and very responsive:D

Talk about making a guy feel good about his purchase..

No kidding...All I'm looking for is some friendly advice. This sled is way different from the old Wedge chassis I used to ride and I don't have a pile of knowledge about these newer models.

Oh well some people have nothing better to do than be a total douchebag I guess...

I ride in the 2000' - 7000' range. Is it possible to run the SLP single with the MBRP can I have now? Is the SLP/HPS can a better alternative?

I am sorry if it sounded like bashing, not what I was intending. I just had gotten done reading that thread and wanted to give a heads up to you. Not saying they are all going to be bad sleds. Again sorry if I upset anyone.

shouldn't have any problem with the slp/mbrp combo. worst case you might lose a couple hp, probably not noticeable. you also might want to look into the clutching. i use the heelclickers in my 800. some people don't like them but they have been a huge improvement on my sled. you could also call carls cycle in idaho for their clutch recommendations, i have heard their setup work very well too.

I had the same sled. Had the slp pipe combo on it and did some clutch work. I now have a 07 700 dragon with the 777 big bore in it. The 07 IMO were awesome and I never had any problems. They will run with the same year 800s. My brother bought my old 07 700 and he did Carls Cycle side panel vents. The clutches do get warm on this chasis. I Would highly recommend putting slp shock tower vents and the carls cycle side panel vents. It now runs consistantly 8200 rpm all day. Have fun with the sled.

For sure, some type of side pannel vents, there many different brands, i went with xxxmodrods. Also went with 19/42 gears, and a 08 800 dragon riser. It is a 5 1/2 rise, perfect for my hight, i am about 5'7. I am in the process of installing Holz e-z steer spindles, they are suppose to be a big improvment over the stock spindles. Oh and HPS can on stock pipe, sounds pretty damn good.

Are these sleds as sensitive as the Arctic Cats to after market accessories? If you put a pipe and can combo on, do you need a fuel box?

You won't need a fuel box. With my Fastrax box, I turned off the bottom and mid-range adjustments. I did add a little fuel on the top end just to be safe, and I ride in the lower altitudes. But a stock motor and just a pipe, extra fuel is not needed.

The 07/08/09 700's are rock solid runners. The problems are with the 800 series motors and seems to be at lower elevations.

As for aftermarket accessories.
No, not really. Polaris squeezed all the ponies they could out of that motor. A pipe and can won't do much of anything by itself. Unless you want to change the sound or drop 3 - 4 pounds.

Until you get into BB or turbo's a pipe and care arn't required.

As for the fuel box, depends on the setup. If you use SLP, you don't need it. I don't know about the other setup, they would be able to inform you of any mods to the sled you would need to make.

How much HP are you looking for? If your not looking for much in the way of Hp gains I'd spend my money on suspension components.
