bought a 07 chevy today, wheel question

it has the air presser sensors in the rims, can i put normal (no senser) 17in rim on the truck?

i know nothing about the air sensors other than they are going off bc one tire has a leak.

You can but you will always get a warning on the dash. I bought 4 new GM sensors on ebay for my winter rims for 75 bucks.

thanks for the info.

I have a GM car with the same sensors, you can take them out of the stock wheels and put them on the new wheels if you'd like. Just make SURE that you put the sensor for each wheel on the same "corner" of the truck or your sensor will flash for the wrong tire when you have a flat..no big deal really but just a heads up!

It's pretty easy to recalibrate and only takes a few minutes. Have to do it every tire rotation.

i bought 4 sensors for my 16" wheels with my studded tires and you have to reprogram the truck when you switch them back and forth--or watch the warrning light-

265's should fit without any problems but I know 285's require a leveling kit on the 2500's. Great trucks but 20 mpg out of the 6.0 is a pipe dream. www.gmfullsize.com is great site for technical info.

yup, I just did a 2500 mile road trip with a sled deck and even before that anything above 70 your mpg goes way down, the first tank i did 8 with a bad headwind at 75 plus mph so I slowed it down to 70 and I actually got almost 14 one tank but mostly around 12 witch is what i was getting with my 305/20's (i put the stock 245's on for the road trip witch are good for 2-3 mpg's)

you can fit 285's easy, i've had 315's on mine, just a "few" turns on the torsion bars does the same thing as a leveling kit. nice truck, exhaust helps those 6.oL's breath
What year is your truck, guessing it's the older body style? From everything I've read 285's will not fit stock(cranking counts as a leveling kit) and 315's require at least a true 4" lift. I've read this on a few sites but a lot of the members aren't very bright so who knows.

The new body styling really screwed with the tire fitment on all chevy trucks. The 99-06 chevy 1500's could fit 285's stock and the new ones barely clear them with a leveling kit. On my 08 1500 I'm running a leveling kit, 1.5 BL, and still had to trim a little to fit 295's(33.5).
