Boss Seats and the options

I figured I would post here because a lot of you mountain guys have these seats. I am thinking about taking the $500 plunge and buying a Boss highrise seat. Can you guys tell me what options you have and the pros and cons of each? pics would be great as well. Thanks, Kevin

That does look ok but it looks like you added weight instead of removed. My boss saved me 8 lbs and changed the whole sled. shovel pouch for sure and I rec telling them softest foam.

Boss high rise one with shovel pouch on the rev and the high rise noss seat on the rmk. I would not ride with any other seat. I love them you sit higher and lose the weight.

yes shovel pouch is sweet but my recomendations and to order the boss seat form a dealer that has them in stock and not order from boss or you may not get a seat till the end of next summer.

I also sat on some of the other seats and quite frankly they sucked. Remember you cant sit on a picture of a seat and know what its gonna feel like. Boss seats have the best feel. But ya, they do tend to take a long time to get at certain times of the year.

That looks nice. How did you do it?

There is a lady here in Denver that does moto and snomo recovers. Mine was the first build up she had done. I made a pattern out of cardboard to the desired height and showed her the lines I wanted for the top. She just layered foam on top of the stock foam, then shaved it with a turkey carver then added another layer over and wrapped it down both sides. Then replaced the cover only at the seams, basically where you sit. I put it on the sled to test and took it back to have some of the foam removed from the sides where it was too thick. I picked a moto style gripper vinyl that did not work so good in the cold so we recovered it with some other material she found later after she had done a couple more for people I had sent to her.
For me it is great. 150 instead of 5-600 for the boss. I can live with a seat that is not as fashionable and not quite as light. It weighs in at 11 lbs. The boss seats are 6 lbs. I don't think that 6 lbs is worth the extra money. I also wanted more than a 3" rise. Mine is 5.5" taller than stock.

seats

100_1503.jpg i built my own mount and used a motocross seat weights in close to 3 lbs alot lighter than the 15 lb. stocker, and i still have money left for beer.

Dude I commend your effort but that seat looks like its gonna leave you sitting a little low, lol. Post of pic of you sitting on it please :)

seat height

my seat is the same height as the stock one was, but since it is narrrower i do tend to ride low, especially with 5" risers. who sits anyway? i really like how i can get my leg around or my body back over it quicker in the hairy situations.

I bought one about 5 years ago for my MT Viper. It was one of the first flat top highrises. When I finnally got it, I was thinking WTF! This is a piece of crap. 5 Years later that seat looks excatly the same and I rode the hell out of that sled. Took a while to get, looks somewhat cheesy, but it is very light and seems to hold up extremely well. Now I have a new cat with the snocheck one. It is a little on the firm side but, seems like the same quality. If i had a new xp or Poo I would probably not bother as their seats are good height and shape from the factory. But the old style sleds and new Cats need one for sure.

I too wasn't overly impressed with the fit and finish of the Boss hi-rise I bought. The buttons on the seat cover were not lined up exactly the same on both sides.

The good things are the foam is excellent and the seat is super light. It has not soaked up any water, the foam hasn't broken down and the cover is holding together perfectly.

Finally received my high rise flat top for my 03 1M 900 late November. Installed and rode over Xmas/ New Years. Amazing difference! Quality is good. I got the shovel pouch and it works well. I also got the LED light option but Boss didnt send w/ seat but has since shipped it. Took 3 months to get, but I think a lot of the issue is the Cat seats. I bought from Xtreme Sled Parts. I would definitley spend the money and get the Boss- do you have the patience to wait?
