Boss seat

Quick question from those of you who have had or do have Boss seats. Are they worth it? Looking at a Boss seat for my Mountain Max. Sled already has a Fabcraft tunnel, Xtra Lite skid, Powder Pros, Viper shocks, triple pipes, boost bottle, airbox mod...about the only things not done to be a full mod is a lightweight hood, motor work (why the guy spent the money on the tunnel before doing engine work is beyond me, but it's the way I bought it...), and still has the stock seat.

So question, do I spend the money on a seat, or do I put that money toward a hood or engine work? Don't really want to tear into the motor now that snow is only a couple months away (and don't have my shop finished yet to do that work).

Thanks for any opinions.

Personal opinion...Boss seat transformed my rev for me...because I am a little taller...I am 6'2" and the hi-rise made the ride in and out infinitely more comfy...additionally, while riding and putting a knee on the seat it made a huge difference...

IMHO...

best things to do to a sled...

Timbersled skid
Boss Seat...

However, for my Nytro, they dont make boss seats, and it is not as cramped on the Nytro as it was on the boss...

boss seat saves weight, and i found it fits my skinny *** better than stock.
But 600 bucks for foam, and material wrapped around.Probable not worth it,but its only money.

I've had one for 5 years, it's much more comfortable, maybe a little soft but I'd bet they have upgraded the foam since. I have the top rear seam beginning to show some wear/separation, but it's held up great. D

How long do you intend to keep the sled/how many miles do you expect to put on, and what type of riding do you do?

If gonna keep it a while or ride the bejesus out of it this year, and if you do a lot of boondocking/climbing, may be worth it. Certainly is spendy, and can't 'justify' it economically, but as others have said having a higher/firmer/better seat to put the knee on while boondocking/climbing around on the sled is very nice.

On the other hand, not doing the seat gets you $600 closer to that big bore... ;)

Post some pics of the sled, love those fabcraft tunnels!

I'm actually looking at a used seat, so it's not $600...I would have a difficult time justifying $600 for a seat...

Here's the sled, one before I bought it (in it's yellow period...), and one up at RE last winter.

Nice!

Good lookin' sled!!! One of these years, I'm gonna get one of those tunnels, I swear... :)

If you're able to find one used, probably makes the decision a little easier. Wished I had one on my old RMK, and really like the one I have now on my 1-ton.:D

Honestly i see more boss seats on craigslist for MMs than anything. I put the boss seat on my ladies SRX and its 3522435353434 times better than that heavy junk it had. I used the boss seat of my 01 mountain cat too and it fits! :) The seats dont absord soo much water and freeze and weigh 2 tons either.. plus, the cool factor is there. The boss seats look damn good. Also theres the ergos. the seats are super comfy imho. Get a seat from SNOW JW on here. hell cut you a deal you probly cant pass up...

anyway you can post of pic of the Mountain Cat seat on the SRX?

YEP but you have to wait till the 151 and rev skid r in it then im taking final pics. i had to dig some of the front of the seat out so itll snugg up to the tank better. I might tomarow just throw it on and snap a pic though for ya. I figured it couldnt not fit that bad since the tunnels are the same size. Just matching it too the tank, but even without taking sum out the front of the seat it fits decent.

I bought one for my Vector and while I wasn't completely satisfied with the fit and finish (due to the cost) I was impressed with the foam and its ability to not break down in XC race conditions. I bought a hi-rise and it is very comfortable and light weight! I don't regret buying it but it is a lot of money for what you get. Still, the foam added to the ride quality on my sled and it lightened it up plus allowed for a more aggressive riding stance. I guess when you step back and look at the big picture, it did do quite a few things for the money,

i am working on remodeling the stock seat. adding foam to the top to raise it up about 3", custom contouring it to the tank for a stock appearance and narrowing up a bit to rid the fat side look. this will give a flat top look, utilizing the stock cover components, if they are in good enough condition. basically adding material to the seat portion, reusing sides, adding some more snaps toward the tank, and drilling more drain holes in the plastic bottom. should be done next week for pics. once the fit and finish is complete.

I have a Boss seat on my Mnt Viper -- best mod I've done to that sled (and I've done a lot of mods!!!!!).

It made a good sled fantastic to ride. Theseats are pricy but worth it. Changed the whole riding style/ergonomics of the sled for the better --- more rider forward and comfortable.

When I have the money I'm also going to get a Boss Highrise for my Attak GT, which came with a tall, rider forward seat stock.

If you are running bar risers the boss seat is nice.
I am running 5.5" rox risers. With the stock seat it is not very comfortable to sit and ride. With the hi rise bringing you up 3" it is similar to the stock height.
The boss seat is better in all conditions, sitting or standing. It is also a much easier transfer from sitting to standing.

The Boss highrise seats for the MM are soooooo much better than stock. I will not ride an MM without one. Get the one with the shovel pouch and storage for handle and probe and dont worry about the cost. They are worth every penny.

yes they are expensive but it's the best mod you can put on your sled. I got a flat top high rise on my Max and I love it. First mod I bought for my Max and my M8 I got last year. You can't even compare it to the stock seat. Total junk. Heavy as an anchor and soaks up more water than a Shamwow! Who needs a taillight too? Check out First Place parts or Go Big Parts. Got both my seats from these places. Picked up the flat top highrise AC seat for $488, I think shipped to me. And like TRIPPLESWILLNEVERDIE said, if you run handlebar risers, it's a must. Unless you like the chopper ape hanger look.

>if you run handlebar risers, it's a must. Unless you like the chopper ape hanger look.

That's funny, and true! I've had a Boss seat on the last two sleds I've owned and will on the next one too, if they make one. The Hi-Rise made a huge difference on my Vector. Easier on my old and tired knees. Although it's bigger than the Mtn Mod seat, it is much firmer (which I like), and more comfortable.

I'd definitely buy another one...

Matt

I have high rise on my MM and I love it. I am fairly tall guy and going from basically sitting on the tunnel to being comfortable and hi up was so much better when on a rough trail. But i would buy used unless $ is no object.
