Boss Seat?

Anyone pre-ordering a Boss seat for their Pro? Was told the Dragon seat "should" fit but I'm not into "should" so thinking of waiting for a Pro specific version unless it will be the same? How are the stock seats? If they're the same height then maybe not much benefit?

Have FUN!

G MAN

Boss told me the 2011 will use last years Dragon seat. I went to Polaris website to look at the pictures again. The tank and seat do look identical to what was used the last couple of years. I hope this helps.

Here Is what I'm told by some engineers at Polaris.

The rear of the tank is identical to the current models. The seat is the same as is the mounting bracket on the tank... The part numbers are different because the colors are different.

Trail Tanks, who will have the 15.5 gallon high capacity tanks for the new Pro Chassis sleds, has the stock fuel tank... the old seat fits that one.

The t-tracks fit the same fuel can rack from polaris and measure out at the same width .

When I asked the Polaris Pro RMK engineers in the field during the demos if a boss seat would fit the answer was: "The tank is the same from the gas cap back... your seat will fit"

I'm confident that the current Boss RMK offering will fit the Pro RMK chassis.

Good info guys, thanks! How are the stock seats? Is it worth upgrading if they're essentially the same height? On Doos the height thing was the biggest reason I'd swap.

TIA,

G

IMO, i upgrade to get a harder seat that is taller.

Added Height for a tall guy (6'2" +)... May be a plus...

But...

If you are an active, Stand-up (mostly) rider... a tall seat is a handicap IMO..

For a normal sized or shorter guy... that is an even taller obstacle to clear if you are hopping from one side to the other...

If you dont spend much time sitting down when riding...

Something to think about.

I'd really like to see Boss make a normal or "low boy" seat option for the RMK's.

People always say that it is hard to throw a leg over but i have never had a problem. Another reason it helps to have a tall seat for jumping is when you land realy hard, your knees aren't as bent when your butt hits the seat. IDK, to each his own. I am only 5,11 but i like a tall seat.

Love mine.

are the boss seats any wider on top or more comfy than the pro seat?

Well I have not sat on the 2011 but the narrowness of the RMK style seat at the back did cause some discomfort. I like how the boss is narrow at the front and a bit wider at the back for added comfort. Super light. I feel about 1" taller on this seat with less sit in than stock.

only 5'11? are you suggesting your shorter than most?

no, i would say i am about average. There was discussion that if you are tall 6'3"+, that this seat is useful because it sits higher. I was just stating that i am an average sized guy and i like a taller seat. I have no reason to promote boss seats. In fact, i find that when my seat went to **** with in two rides that i was dealt with poorly. I was told to rough it out till spring, and at spring they would send me a new seat or cover. Now i have to pay for a cover...WTF?

Regardless, i prefer the added hight and i will still run it.

I'm not going to deny there has not been issues. However, the taller seats are such an ergonomic improvement that words can not explain. Especially if your 6'2" like me. Also, there is no seat as light and with the closed cell foam. I have my 4th one coming soon. I've not had issues with any of mine.

I'm about 5'8", and found that on my 09 SB dragon, it did lift me up a few inches while sitting. The sled having the tall riser and straight bars, I felt it put me in the perfect position on the sled. It was easier to stand up and maneuver the sled while sitting. last season I did minimal off trail riding and did not find it to be in the way. An advantage being its length not height. I am not an advanced or mountain rider so I typically swing my foot over the back... and its not an issue at all. I've never hopped over the seat to go wrong foot forward or anything like that so I don't know if it would be in the way for somebody.

I was not impressed with the quality of the seat at all, the zippers kept coming open on me and I thought there would be more usable storage. I find that it does have a lot, but it seems to have several small pockets all over the place.

They are sending me a new updated cover as they have fixed the issues with the zippers. I will probably try it out on my new 11 Assault SB, but I may stick with the stocker or even look at the skinz seat or an Assault RMK seat and go another route for storage.

I initially bought the seat, having a 136" SB, for storage so I could also fit an HRP rack. Going to a longer sled, so I really don't NEED it for storage anymore.

EDIT: I am a little annoyed with how I had to pay for the new seat cover to have water proof pockets and zippers that actually work. I understand their situation and that they got hosed from the zipper mfg. but thats just business and thats how they chose to handle the situation and they will have to deal with the unhappy customers. I was told I could either purchase a new cover for $50 or send the seat in and they would change the zippers on it. I highly doubt they really change all the zippers on it... not knowing if I was going to keep or sell the seat I chose the new cover to keep something that was current in case I did want to sell it.

I saw the skinz seat and under seat storage set up at the sled show and thought it was pretty nice. Anyone else see it? Thoughts?

The feel of the boss seat on a Pro RMK is great. The narrow front-end of the seat gives you plenty of side-to-side movement when standing. The fit of the seat on a Pro sled is just like it was on the IQraw sleds.(same seat) It is slightly higher (1''apprx)then stock, the height isn't a uncomfortable height for anyone around 6ft tall or more. The density is a great. The storage option of the seat is hard to beat. I think it is more comfortable then the stock, and with the tapered rear section of the seat it makes step overs easy. I would recommend it over the oem seat, if you have the inseam clearance....

Looks good. If it was another inch taller I would have one on my Pro but its not:face-icon-small-sad One inch is not enough.
Wonder if Boss would build me a +2 inch taller seat?

That's not going to happen. I asked them to send me a new seat cover with no zippers at all. I wanted them to take off all that crap behind the seat, and they wouldn't.So i'll just do it myself.

Overall, i am not impressed with Boss at this moment. Hopefuly, their nitrous system is better.
