There was a helicopter first. I was at the truck when I heard it. Was told it came down between Peanut and Hood hill. That was roughly 1:30.
Then at about 4:30, when I was departing, a Border Patrol SUV (Blazer?) was heading up the hill.
If it was a drug drop that was being investigated, then I would think DEA rather than Border Patrol

Border patrol does much more than just patrol our boarders, they are also known as Home Land Security....... They could have been training, or following up on tip.... Who knows, never the less I'm sure they were doing their job....... Keeping us safe.
border patrol is the biggest waste of money i have ever seen in my life, if you want to smuggle weed or such accross their is so many ways, that its a loke in even thinking you can control it
we seen some boarder controlers in montana a few weeks ago, their was four of them that were out with sleds running, and it was just a joke to say the least, many sled marks running accros the line

Yah, I think you are right on this one.
Do you really think so? The war on drugs is only part of what they do.......I can guaranty there have been many terrorism attempts that have been foiled do to HLS and BP work, many of these stories never hit the media.... If you open up a news paper you will see some of the horrible things that happen in the middle east and other parts of the world, do you think that they don’t happen here because were too far away from them?
Better think again…..We have a lot of enemies…. There are countless hours of work that go into keeping our nation safe.
Without trying to put words in Freds mouth or think out loud for him, but I believe he was referring more to their fighting of the drug trade? Legalize weed
You seriously believe that Home Land Stupidity keeps us safe?

We've gotten off topic a bit. But with that said:
HLS does do more than what we see in the regular media.
As an occasional traveler on the airlines, I recognize the frustration people have with some of the HLS personnel. Be aware, many other countries have put people through airport security checks for far more years than what we have done in North America.
"Home Land Stupidity": Some people apply similar words to any/all police departments in North America, yet I don't think many people would seriously say police departments are stupid/worthless.
To get back on topic, perhaps the Border Patrol effort at Schriebers was a training mission. I don't know, I was simply wondering, therefore I made the post.
I agree that it was most likely just a training exercise. We see the Coast Guard doing stuff like that all the time when we're sailing on the north sound up around the border.
Police departments/agencies are definitely not worthless, they are very much a necessity. Unfortunately, the IQ level of most city or county cops below the rank of captain is way lower than average. There aren't enough intelligent people who want to become cops, and too many who just want the power and authority that a badge gives them.
Does the job or makes stumbling/bumbling attempts at doing the job? I don't believe that HLS is "keeping us safe" any more than I buy into the BS "mission accomplished" propaganda.

Papa Bear I apologize for changing the direction of your thread.
When I graduated from high school in the early 90s to become a police officer at that time you needed a minimum of a 2 year college degree and the pay scale defiantly didn't reflect it... Its my understanding that you no longer need a degree to become a police officer.
I do agree our government does more than its it fair share of pulling the wool over our eyes, and I'm not saying HLS is solely responsible for protecting us but they do have a purpose. Do you believe there has been no successful attacks on US soil since 9-11 simply because of poor planning by a terrorist?
A majority of the people employed by these agency's whether it be the US Marshal service, FBI or HLS have a served in the military, these are people whom I respect.

Do you beleive in what the coast guard does?? I have seen them stop trouble before that would have been in our borders in short order without them svae more than 1 life on the water----They are now HLS.

Can't imagine it was the Border Patrol that wrote the ticket!!??. . . . .but whatever. . . . . . .
Well I certainly hope it was a good stiff fine. I pay for licensing, therefore everyone else should pay for licensing.
