Border Crossing/Yellowstone

We are from Canada/Saskatchewan and going down into Yellowstone this weekend.. I was wondering if I need to register my sled to cross the border? I have insurance on the sled, but it's not registered yet...Also in West Yellowstone itself I understand you can drive from your hotel's what about having your seld registered for insurance reasons down there?

Sled registration

I think you will have to have your sled registered where ever you live before you can cross the border safely and easily, just like a vehicle. As far as once you get to West you will have to buy a temporary non-resident tag for your sled. Have fun I hear West has ton's of snow.

proof of ownership...title or registration etc.

suggest giving a call to the border crossing section you will be going through...the RCMP should be more than willing to give you the info you need...


and have a GREAT tiem in West!!!! snow is incredible this year!!!

I was down in West Yellowstone recently and when crossing into the states they asked for my registration - so yes, you do need it or you could be denied entry. Upon returning to Canada, I have also been asked for it. It proves that the machine is actually yours and not stolen. Hope that helps!
