BOOTS? who's wearing what? best?

I have the Klim Adrenalines, the only time my feet have been wet is when I got water over the top. My feet have always stayed warm and dry, the soles are starting to get chewed up but that is from me kicking the crap out of the Snow Eliminators on my running boards. I would reccomend these to anyone, just bought a pair for my wife this year.

HMK Highmark Pros working for me. I also snapped an ankle in my footwell last season. The boot was a perfect splint. We got the outer boot off in the ER and had to cut the inner off, but it's still usable. Most excellent boots IMO. Had the same pair going for 3 seasons and will use them this year too.

Scarpas, and Coldwave.. After snapping my ankle in the track a few seasons ago.. I stick to something with a bit of Armour/support/padding. I also utterly destroyed my snowboard boots in one season. To pricey to replace them every year.

i have had the klim addrenaline boots for 2 years and love them. feet stay warm, they are light, and never get wet. awesome boot

I wear Trukk. Once I decided to buy a real pair of sled boots they are the only pair I've owned and I've had em since 2005 and they are still in great shape >>>>.

The best boot is.....

....the one that has goretex
....the one that fits your foot and foot well of your sled to a T
....the one that keeps it warm, not to cold or to hot
....the one that ????

What else?

I love klim as much as anyone. I use all klim gear, even a klim ABS bag. But in my opinion the boots are worthless. Owned a pair and gave them away they were so bad. Cold, leaked water you name it. Sorel caribou's work great. Put an aftermarket insole under the liner and enjoy.

Durable, wide foot foot print to walk in the snow, plenty warm, water proof, you can walk in them, drive. Like 90 bucks to buy. Going on year 3 and I'm sure they will go three more.

Hey, I'm not the only one. I thought it was pretty random thing, I got tossed weird when doing pow turns, didn't let go and pulled myself under. How'd you do it?

When I broke my leg I was wearing a burton boot, it didn't sustain any damage and did a decent job of splinting as well (tied that sucker up tight, and road back out the closest street)..It held up ok but the break was do to the impact of my ankle get pitched up against the tunnel from the track vs a twist and break.

I figure something with a bit of Armour would have protected me. Now with the metal plate and a ton of screws in my ankle, if something like this happens again the break won't be very clean so I've really shy'd away from using lighter boots.

Although I mostly ride with my coldwaves if I think I'm going to be a bit more wreckless (powder day) I'll switch to the scarpas which are a hard shelled boot (like a ski boot), with a real grippy base, they don't flex very well side to side but forward and back is fine, end up using my knees more, they are REALLY warm, and water proof, comfy to wear, and the best part is you can really kick the crap out of the snow/ice on running boards. They are also really good if you want to hike around a bit, there have been times I've been out places and wanted to climb up, or down something to setup a shot. Huge + when it comes to gripping on rocks/ice ect.

The only down sides, I've had with the scarpa infernos is the lack of side to side flexibility (which really doesn't make to big of an impact), because they are a hard boot you need to be careful on thinner/old seats (punched some holes in my mcat seat cover..but the doo holds up fine), and taking them off at the end of the day is like taking off a ski boot.. you just can't get them off fast enough haha.

Boots and bones

Brahms,

A long time ago I was in the mountaineering business, and was a Scarpa dealer. The Invernos are good boots, tended to fit a little on the narrow side for North American Male feet, but good boots. I used alot of the different double plastic mountain boots, but didn't ride sleds with them. (At the time I was pretty much a leaf-licker...)

Anyway, I did custom orthotics with a biomechanical bootfitter on a pari of Asolos and was pretty happy with them, but plastics and sledding won't work for me. I think it would sure increase the snag factor inside a footwell. And I hear ya about having just a silly little fall-off that goes bad enough to hurt you. The ride out sucks don't it?

I like the HMK (snowboard family style) of boot in particular for it's stiffness and warmth, not just warmth you get from more flexible single boots.

Everybody's mileage varies, of course.

Hope you're healed up and ready to go. (MY wife ran with 7 ti screws and a plate in her ankle for about 3 years before deciding to get them removed and let the holes fill in. Never had any trouble after her trimalleolar fx - she was very, very lucky.

Last season I rode in a pair of Saloman Snowboarding boots. It was ok... but they were hand me downs from my cousin, and were wore the F' out. They leaked, and my feet would be absolutely soaked by the end of a riding day.

I just purchased some HMK Highmark Pro's. The black and orange ones.

I'll let you know how they do once I actually get some SNOW.

Wearing them around the house, they're incredibly stiff. These things are going to be a biznatch to break in. LOL.

:D
