Boost for $1,500?

Sounds too good to be true, whats the catch? No Warranty? Why would you ride anything else but a 180 HP Nytro? I rode one this year with the push turbo and it is really competent.

Catch is yammi wants to sell sleds, it is in fact a pretty great deal, if I was in the makket id be all over it, btw pully swap=near 200 hp

Funny how this offer is being talked about all over now, Yamaha put this offer up a week plus before the new cats came out.

I believe you have to pay for install but there is a warranty, also only available in the US right now.

Catch is that install is not included, you have to pay for that separate. But otherwise you get the warranty still.

I rode one of each 2 weeks ago, what a kick in the pants. If I was buying a Nytro it would get the boost option.

Don't you have to pay full MSRP? And u pay the $1500 for the turbo + $500 for the install.

The warrenty info as far as what is covered and what is not, is on Yamaha's site.

also have to remember that the kit is only good for 6-9k ft and the controller that comes with it is not adjustable for anything else. so you will also have to consider buying a different controller and pulleys for the supercharger so that you can ride at whatever elevation you want to. oh ya it doesnt come with an intercooler either.

Turbo Nitro vs. Turbo M1100

Competition just came to town:

=========
Option 1 for the past few years:
1049cc Yamaha Turbo Nitro MTN 153" Track, Non-Intercooled, you can't ride it below 6000 feet elevation or it will blow up & not be covered by warranty. $12,499 + $1500 (if you do it yourself) so it's $14,000 for a Turbo Nitro. Last year, that would have been a great deal.

============
But now we have option 2 available:
2012 Arctic Cat ProClimb M 1100cc Turbo 153" track, with intercooler, ride it at any elevation you want. MSRP: $13,299.

Easy argument can be made that the cat will certainly make more than 177hp when you "unleash" it.

Looks like an easy choice to me. I'm sure that makes Yamaha more than a little nervous. :beer;

i say weight and handling would be my 2 biggest reasons...

way better chassis's avaiable at a much lower cost would be another...

Nytro is 1049cc.

Here is a another comparison I did for somebody else looking for a 4 stroke mtn sled:
‎2012 Nytro 162 + boost= $14500 (+ install)
2012 M1100 Sno-Pro Turbo 162= $14000
Retail Price and both come with a warranty, I picked the AC sno-pro because it has the same shock package as the standard nytro (fox float 2s).

2012 Nytro 162 (560 lbs) + boost (25 lbs) = 585 lbs
2012 M1100 Turbo 162 = 562 lbs
The M1100 Turbo is more balanced weight but its still only 20 lbs lighter.

AC service manual says adjust the valves every 5,000 miles on the 1100, Yamaha says every 20,000 miles.
So really the weight is a wash, the power is a wash, the price is a wash (if your paying 14K+ for a sled your not to worried about a few $100) Yamaha may have the upper had in reliability but AC could have the upper hand in handling?

Yes, but will the nitro turbo kit yielf more power than 180??? everyone says that you can make 250ish with the stock z1 turbo system. Can you get the same numbers or close to it with the nitro kit.

Side by side up a 25ish degree hill about 500 yards long in 12" of powder the Nytro with PUSH turbo was considerably faster than the M11T in West Yellowstone area. They were both stupid fast though. I would guess the boosted Nytro was 15-20hp more than the M11T. But the M11T was easier to ride, had a better rider position... the laid down steering stem on the Nytro just doesn't work for me.

Does it matter to anyone besides me that the ArticCat is made in the USA?
I think Ill wait another year to see how it holds up.
