Boondocker Turbo giving me fits

I have a 2009 M8 with a Boondocker pump gas set up. Addecd the EBC this year and everything has been running great until yesterday. it ran good most of the day and then all of a sudden, it quit runnng in the mid range. It idles great and runs at full throttle great, but will actually die if you don't go from zero to full throttle. In the lower and mid range throttle you have to cotinually feather the throttle or it will die. any ideas?

Could be a TPS issue?

Unfortunatley if it is it means taking 1/2 the sled apart to get at the TPS sensor and check voltage over the range of your throttle bodies opening and closing ... make sure the TPS sensor doesn't have a dead spot.

you might want to check to see if the power valve cables out of spec or sevo motor just throwing ideas out

I had a similar problem last year in the mid range when blipping the throttle in the trees. If I dropped the throttle then came back on it hard it would fall on its face. It didn't do it all the time so I ruled out the TPS..plus as mentioned it was not something I could test and repair on the hill. It only happened on a couple of days so I assumed it was tuning based on different conditions that day? I haven't been back out with it since so I am hoping I won't have it this year. I am running a Push Turbo PG setup on 2010. Assuming it is not the TPS and is not consistent would you agree it could be tuning? If so would that be a lean bog or rich? What about secondary not shifting properly...possibly bad rollers or helix?

I don't think it's tuning. I have it in my shop, rear end in the air and I can duplicate the problem. Just get the track turning, give it just a litlle more throttle and it kills the engine, unless you go all the way open or return to idle. You can also kill the engine by holding the throttle in the same position, just off of idle. Like I said, it was running great and this came on all of a sudden.

???

Something is missing. Sound like it could be you throttle safety switch. Unhook it and see if that fixes it. Is your throttle loose ?

Sounds like a broken reed petal. Lots of fun.

When reads go you will just fall on you face at idle. Bog really bad then take off and run fine if you can get to go as long as you keep it going or ripping it.

looks like i nailed it.

He replaced throttle two weeks ago and one of the bushings fell out.

exactly what I would have checked. sorry I didnt read this post sooner. the throttle safety switch has never had to do its job on any sled I have had, but has messed me up a couple of times.

Thanks Mountain Magic for the help. Unplugged the TSS and everthing works. Thanks again for the help.

Glad you figured it out ..

What would cause the TSS to give you a huge dead spot?

It wasn't really a dead spot, it would kill the engine. Because the bushing was missing, the pin would not make contact and depress the TSS, so when you gave it throttle the sled thought no one was aboard and would kill. At full throttle, there must have been enough pressure to depress the switch. Was driving me nuts but Kevin called and walked me through it. Installed new bushings and pins today but left the TSS un plugged.
