boondocker PG ???'s

I just bought a 2009 M-8 with a Boondocker PG kit on it. It only has around 400 miles on it, so I'm not sure how much time the previous owner spent dialing it in. He told me he ran it at 6lbs.
I am coming off a lightened/ported/piped M1000. My sled flat ripped. It has pulled out of a few climbs that PG turbo's could not (to be fair, I did not know the riders and what boost). Either way, I know I am not going to be happy with 6 lbs of boost...however I do not want to go to a full RG kit. I don't want to buy race gas and we don't have the huge climbs other areas offer. Most of our time is in the trees and our chutes are typically tight. HOWEVER, I do not mind mixing in a few gallons of race.
Here are a few questions maybe you guys can help me with...

-The coolant temp port is not being used...why? Is it needed?
-At what PSI do the injectors reach max duty cycle?
-I am assuming the new timing control module will allow you to run higher boost levels at lower octane? What levels..9 or 10 psi? Even if you can turn of the boost, will the injectors handle it?
-I heard the new EBC allows you to turn down the boost at lower RPM's to make it more like a stock sled in the trees. So, maybe 8psi at full throttle and 4 psi at 1/3 throttle?
-Do you guys like A/F guages? or the EGT's? I am familiar with EGT's, but the A/F guage is what I have typically seem on other turbo sleds.

I run with 1200 OVS Turbo guys, so I know I will get me *** handed to me, but it has been that way for years. It really doesn't matter to me. I just want more than I had with my m1000.
Unfortunatley all my buddies know the OVS system well, but don't know anything about the Boondocker.

Thank you in advance for your help!

I have a 09 m8 PG Boondocker kit w/o intercooler. Installed it last year myself-awesome kit-I have the the EBC and ran around 9lbs at 5000-6000ft. I would not believe you could possibly be beat by a 1000 not boosted. If you have that thing dialed in it will flat rip. I just run 91 octane.

I like the EGT's, I have not even played with the box, the stock numbers were spot on from Boondocker.

Do you mind sharing the stock numbers?
The instructions that come with the sled were...
3000- 0/0/0
5000- 0/0/0
PSI 28/38/48

Did boondocker know you were going to run 9psi on PG?

Sno Junkie your elevation should be good to run 8-9 psi maybe a bit more. You will need to reset your BD stats and keep an eye on youe duty cycle out to figure out your max boost keeping your dc out below 99. They run better in the mid to high 90s but you don't want to be running maxed out.

If you like that and want more power do the RG upgrade which will give you fuel driver, secondary injectors and intercooler. Then you can run 10-12 with some 100LL or race in your 91 and no NA sleds will be beating you.

Remember RG upgrade refers to your fuel pump and injector capability does not mean you have to run race gas all the time.

My knowledge

Ok... So here is what I can tell you about my 09 bd pg

For that elevation you should be able to run somewhere between 8-9 lbs. I run 10ish pounds with around 95 duty cycle at 10-11k. I put a splash of 1-2 gal of race fuel in to protect against deto. Been up a bit higher in boost, but no reason to push it.. Runs hard. My sled is also geared down from stock for the type of riding we do i think it's been benficitial.

I would rec finding a boost you like and clutching for it. I think a lot of guys mess with boost pressure and don't adjust clutching according.

Speaking with Justin at code red.. He tells me I've got a few options for upgrading if I'd like...

1. Add the timing mod and go to a 2010-2011 stock m8 head to gain a bit of low end. Cheap and easy. Keep the rest same as is.

2. Add the mini intercooler to the system. Lower charge temps and with 2010 head should allow for 10-12 lbs at MY elevation.

3. Boon docker has a race gas kit upgrade. New box, extra set of injectors. Been told to call boondocker to discuss, but I guess it will work with current fuel pump.

Just as woody said, the "race gas" kit doesn't mean you have to run race fuel. Just mean the kit is beefed up to allow you to run more boost than the stock injectors can handle. (thus the duty cycle issue not being able to exceed 99) if not this year, maybe next plan on doing the 2010 head, timing mod and the race kit upgrade as my air box is already set up for extra injectors, just need the upgraded boonie box and injectors themselves.

10 lbs pulls hard... You should walk all over a ported/polished m1000. I had a pretty strong m1 and boost on an 8 isn't even comparable. My m8t makes it look silly in all conditions. Plus the tunnel dump allows the sled to never bog, which got me in a few sticky situations on my 1000. Worst part of stock sled and my favorite part of turbo. Besides the turbo giggl backcountry speaks so fondly of.

Call Justin or Erik at alpine. Theyve helped me tons.

I would recommend that you use this time waiting for the snow to fly to read every bit of literature you can find on using and understanding your BD box. The beauty of a BD box vs. the others is that in the advanced settings you can monitor and change functions that most of us didn't even know were going on under the hood. The better you understand that box the better you can tune your sled. I have been around quite a few BD kits and have found that no two dialed sleds will have the same numbers. BD starting numbers are typically pretty conservative and you will most likely lean out across the board (more in some areas than others). EGT's with quick probes and recording function are crucial to tuning. Kosso makes a great user friendly gauge.

It has KOSO guages and I had a racepack on my M1000..so i am familliar with the gauges, but I have only spent time with the BD box in the rpm range settings. I have not spent time with boost settings or capture mode or any other aspect for that matter. I will take your advice to heart and spend some time with it.

I bought a 2010 head and timing control module.
