Boondocker control box

SO you're JUST going to put a bd box on your 1000?

You're going to do the thing most of us avoid if at all possible without any of the mods that will actually give you something for the hassle?

#1 I'd go for any of the other boxes over BD
#2 you can do quite a bit without a box if you pay attention & are careful about it
#3 I'd go with any of the other boxes over BD, Attitude & the power commander III seem to get very good reviews.
#4 get EGT's before you burn down your sled.

I would agree with most of this and I am not a hugh BD fan but their box if you know what the heck your doing is very powerful and easily adjustable in the field. If you are a plug and play guy then it might not be the box for you. But if you really want to dial it in and tune every possible mod and angle then you might think about a BD box.

As for your question. HP gains. Don't count on anything from adding a box. You will get a lot more from good clutching than adding just the box.

Personally if you are stock get a set of EGT's before you do anything. Get some good baseline numbers, start your mods and when you get to hot add a control box of your choice.

after hearing of many ppls bad luck with the bd box i was sold on the attitude box... until i found out you cant subtract fuel which apparently is needed in my case. curious can a guy tune off an air fuel gauge as well?

You can tune off a A/F gauge. Just make sure you know where your base line is check you plug and wash before you just re-lie on your A/F gauge. I have been running a BD box for two years an like it. Havent tried or seen how other boxes work maybe there is a better option out there.

The pure Logic/OVS box you CAN pull fuel and I think is the easiest to tune

yeah, if you really wanna spend the money on a control box you're better off saving that cash and using it to tune your clutch, and maybe mill the stock head. These are the two big gainers right off the bat.

Not to side track this thread but...
1. How much did you mill off your head?
2. What was your compression before?
3. What was your compression after?
4. What are you running for fuel?

I have been thinking about taking .010" off mine. So if you can let me know what you did and how it worked out. PM me.

Thanks
