Boondocker Apex Header

Got my new header from Boondocker with a slip joint after my flexjoint gave out and started a small fire. Any one put one of these on yet? Does the joint need to be welded or does it stay flexible?

Don't weld it! It's designed to allow enough flex when the parts get hot/cold to prevent cracking and the joint will seal itself up when it gets hot.

How many miles were on the original header? Did they change the flex joint because there were problems with the flex joint. I haven't heard of many leaking on a BD kit.

Had about 1400 miles on the old header. Flex joint started deteriorating and hot exhaust was forced through a few holes and started a fire that I caught out the corner of my eye on a climb. Damn lucky I didn't lose my sled! Everyone with a flex joint should check theirs for leaks.
